C2C: Mercenaries

Mercenaries would be very useful in Archipelago maps where conquering barbarian cities and islands is surprisingly hard, even without Raging barbs.
 
Okay... I just think I just got a response that the problem with the Core AI is irrelivant to the currently theoretical addition of beo-mercenaries. :dubious: I guess this ties in with

I had my entire post quoted in the next post... I can see no real reason to ever do this. Next time try referencing the parts of a post you find relivant in the first sentence of your response. This will both save bandwidth from endessly repeating and help you frame your post in your head.

The only reason to post an entire previous post is because of either the post is a page or five back and/or its been a long time period between posts. A few weeks at least. I find people that do full post quotes (on posts longer than two or three sentences) repeatedly are using their quotes to make it harder to remember the previous post and/or make their post look like its responding to more data than it is.

As for the 'only 12 Civs' comment, that is more relivant, much like the idea mercenaries being a major boon with maps requiring endless island hopping. This is a planning stage of a proposed project. Have the point is to poke ideas full of holes so others can fill them or start a new/revisied theory.
 
One thing on Mercs, at least with the ones in Rhys, they don't work in multiplayer last I checked (the multiplayer version of rhys had to remove it) Just a side note if you plan to have multiplay compatibility, that being said, could it be added through advanced diplomacy to 'give' a unit for a predefined number of turns, and then it is returned to the original owner? Then the gold/favors could be done as part of the weight, as long as the ai knows how to use it effectively, it could be a way to do it without adding in a whole new sub system.
 
Necratoid, that is okay, so long as we can be civil and polite, new ideas and poking holes in old ones are always good, and they mean that the proposal will be more likely to ultimately be added by the modders.
 
OK guys, its nice and all about the mercenaries, BUT it isn't going to happen, at least in the next two (2) years, so discuss what you want, but again, sorry it isn't going to happen any time soon.
