What type of lethal bombardment does the Man-O-War have? (sea, land, both, or none?) Does the normal frigate have lethal sea bombardment?

Can you get an SGL from popping a tech from a goody hut? Can you get an SGL from the free techs with ToE or first to Philosophy?

Can barbarians be enslaved?

I got another ? too. What exactly does it mean when a privateer has bombard stats of 3.0.0 ? (Bombard 3, range 0, ROF 0)

Barbs can be enslaved with Mayan's Jav-thrower UU at 33% chance for each succesful attack IIRC (or you mod another unit if possible). Jav-throwers are great on maps with raging barbs (since barbs often prefer to just sit around and wait for their slaughter).

Bombardment stats: these are for defensive bombardment (archers etc), attackers can get a bombardment punch before attacking.

hmm.. so if it works like archers, then you have to attack a privateer in a stack to make it bombard? Also, how does a Rate of Fire of "zero" work? Doesn't it have to be "one" to do damage?

Bzzzt. For some reason this option is not present in Cconquests, despite the fact that it was present back when I played Vanilla Civ :o

Question: in the epic game in civ3, when one of your opponents starts to build a wonder, you get a prompt from your adviser saying something like "Arabia has started contruction on the Hanging Gardens." In Conquest, however, it doesn't do this anymore. Is this a bug or have I not switched on something in the preferences?

Ah...
Yes it is...

Well my copy seems to have myseriously lost this function. Presumably you have actually seen the "upgrade all" function in action in C3C before you corrected me, in which case... why me?!

(Although I did ask about this earlier in the thread and other people seemed to agree it'd disappeared... what's going on?)

Mr. Do, it works for me. Do you have barracks and cash?

This is probably not a bug.
First question: You do have contact with the civ that it building the particular wonder, don't you?
Second: In the preferences, there is an option "Display fewer popup in MP" or something like that which also affects some popups in the regular epic game. Do you have that one checked on? If it is on, turn it off. This helps in MP games somewhat although I don't like how it distracts some epic game popups.

In Preferences select "Show Wonder Initiation Pop Up" and you will get this message.

in main game, can we choose which time age to start ?

No, but you could always use the editor and change the rules for your 'main' game.:)

@Mr. Do: shift-u works for me, too...

another q, why did sometimes my granary (after built) have no effect on the city?

meaning no 'HALF line' for city 'granary

I noticed in my games that sometimes the lines don't show up, but the granary only half empties as the city grows.

Bloody hell, then I repeat: why me?! I do have the cash (I had $20,000 at one point), and I remember how it worked... but now it just doesn't. Why wouldn't it work? Was the upgrade-all feature included in a patch for the original that somehow got left out of the game?

Mr. Do,

Do you have barracks? Units cannot be upgraded unless they are in a city with a barracks. I seriously doubt that your copy of the game suddenly "lost" the ability to upgrade units.
