Is it a bug or not? When the temple of artemis great wonder became obsolete, I lost every temple it had built! Now I have to go and build one in every city??? If this is meant to be, then why would you ever build that wonder, why cant it be like the great pyramids???

It is not a bug. The same thing happened to me. I captured it from the Aztecs. Fortunately, when it went obsolete I only lost temples in three former Aztec cities. As to why you would ever build that wonder; I don't know.

Im sure the answer is in here, but I can't seem to find it... What is the difference between "Sentry" and "fortify" and when should you do one or the other? (again sorry if this has been covered)

Not a reply, New question, from exp. Civ2 player. If
treasure units have no movement factor, how can I
return them to capitol? Sorry!

Bloody hell, then I repeat: why me?! I do have the cash (I had $20,000 at one point), and I remember how it worked... but now it just doesn't. Why wouldn't it work? Was the upgrade-all feature included in a patch for the original that somehow got left out of the game?
Assuming you use that keyboard for posting and gaming, shift and u key seem to be alright. Maybe they don't like each other...
:hmm:

Does single unit upgrading work with the shortcut u? If so, don't confirm the prompt and retry shift-u.
If it's still not working, post a save.

It's recommended to install C3C over a fully patched civ3 installation (1.29). But IIRC shift-u worked even in 1.07; it was kind of annoying because every upgraded unit would get active in the next turn.

Your unit on sentry command (it's like fortified) will wake up (get active) when a foreign unit enters the visibility range (of your unit).
There's 2 sentry options:
-wake up call for enmy units only
-wake up call for enemy/friend

Sentry is useful to monitor unsettled areas (barbs etc).
If I was playing and fortified the unit, I'd forget to activate it again.

From what I have read here, the FP does not work properly on Conquests. Also as I understand it, you can still play PTW once you install C3C. So is the FP bug restricted just to the C3C game or to the included PTW as well?

I already tried shift-U in previous attempts, but I will try again. There's usually an icon to upgrade all as well if I remember correctly- that does not appear either...

Under the prefrences screen there is an option "colorblind help" or something like that... what is it acctually doing? I still can't see the difference in most of the borders, or units (and I always have the colored disc option on).

This is the first time I have ever known of a game trying to assist those of us that are colorblind, but I have to be honest - - - I can't see the difference

Anybody know?

People who are colorblind can't distinguish between the different colors of the civs and therefore don't know which city belongs to which civilisation. Therefore a name of the civilisation is added directly following the city name. Nice gesture of the programmers to those people who have a problem distinguishing the civilisations.

I'm not colorblind but I also use it. It's easy for a lazy player like me. ;)

So what is it and what is the difference between all the different flavor numbers?

I m not colorblind, but I also use it. It comes in handy when civ colors are too close together. I had that happen in game where I was at war with Mongols and the Koreans were almost the same color.

You can rename the different flavors to whatever you want them to be. A good example of the use of flavors is in the Conquests scenarios.

From the Conquests Editor Help File:
----
Flavor Page
The ''Flavors'' feature allows you to establish ''relationships'' between the various technology advancements. Setting these relationships is a way to modify how non-human (or AI) civilizations choose which paths to develop along the technology tree.

To set up relationships, the player first selects a ''flavor'' in the far left box (like ''Barbarian''). The player then selects a ''flavor'' in the far right box (like ''Med Civ''). Then, using the percentage field in the center, adjusts the number (or ''relationship'') to his liking. So, using this example, we see that the AI civilizations with a Barbarian ''flavor'' only have a 20% chance of ever researching advances along the Med Civ ''flavor''. Thus, the designer can use flavors to ''steer'' some civilizations away from some advances and toward others.
----

A good example is the Middle Ages scenario. It has 4 Flavors (Byzantine, Islamic, Norse, and Roman Catholic). The chance of a civ with a given Flavor researching a Tech with a different Flavor ranges from 0% (Byzantine --> Islamic) to 100% (Byzantine --> Byzantine). These numbers apply to AI chances of researching a tech that has an attached Flavor.

Can anyone tell me off hand what shield/food bonuses the new bonuses give?

I don`t know if that's what you're doing, but in order for the shift-U to work or the upgrade button to appear, you must have an active upgradeable unit in a city with barracks (or harbor or airport) connected to all needed resources.

The temple of Artemis is a powerful wonder under certain circumstances. If you're not religious and go warmongering early in ancient age, you'll find it really useful to boost your culture and add a temple immediatly in any freshly captured city, meaning less chance of a culture flip and happier people.
When it becomes obsolete, usually you've got other, more efficient ways than temple to deal with happiness and culture. Temples only bring one happy facer after all :)

Do you have the caps-lock on?

Hi.

In PTW I'm sure that cities kept on building the same unit until it was told otherwise. C3C cities seem to build whatever they want, even if I turn all the Governor options to No/Never.
Is there any way to force the same unit to be produced (I want Cavalry not medieval infantry!).

Similarly, if I turn all of the population in a newly captured city to scientists, once one starves they all go back to work. Why is this?

Cheers

vbraun/ Arvedui, I have tried every obvious thing, the button does not appear no matter what.

@Mr. Do-Could you post a save?

@smcSoon- 1. Under the prefrences there is an option that says "Always build previous unit"

2. Its just the way it does those things...
