The Goths strike back
A second wave of Teutonic warriors (7) attacked our victorious forces destroying a Garrison and forcing many of the Heavy Cavalry to retreat.

The XXXV Legion was the lynchpin of the fighting withdrawl of our forces.
4/4 XXXV Heavy Cavalry vs. 3/3 Teutonic Warrior => 3/4 XXXV Heavy Cavalry and 0/3 Teutonic Warrior
4/4 XXXIII Heavy Cavalry vs. 3/3 Teutonic Warrior => 4/4 XXXIII Heavy Cavalry and 0/3 Teutonic Warrior
5/6 XXXV Legion(III) vs 3/3 Teutonic Warrior => 4/6 XXXV Legion(III) and 0/3 Teutonic Warrior

The brave soliders of the empire have reached Roman soil and been re-enforced to face the next onslaught.

Musings From Macedonia

Pinman's Palace-Athens, Greece

The expression on the face of the beloved Greek leader, King Pinman:king: , was suspiciously like a smirk. He was sitting on his comfortable throne chair, listening to 'Alexander the Good ' recount the battle at Ancyra.
"So your majesty", Alexander concluded, "after their defeat at Ancyra, we have a significant advantage over the Persian Forces. I would suggest hitting them further east after giving the troops a five year rest period."

King Pinman:king: smiled at the victorious leader. In truth, he loathed the man and wanted to eliminate Alexander as a threat to his new throne. Two things stayed his hand: The fact that Alexander was loved by the people and his military genius was useful. Still, he thought, it was time to exert his command.

"Five years is too long i'm afraid, Alexander", the King said. "You will move our forces east to Zela and you will do it now. We will remove the Persian Plague from the face of the map."

Alexander frowned and spoke, " Sir I would advise-"

"Your objection has been noted", replied the King. "Go and kill some Persians for the glory of Greece."

Ergili

A Persan Warrior scout was defending the road east to Zela. He was eliminated by a group of Hoplites and the road was used to transport Greek troops to the nearby hilltops. Incidently, these hilltops border the city of Zela....

Carthage War Report

Hannibal Builds Take Warning Encampment.
Read Warning Below Upstart Greek King Pinman

Take Warning Encampment
The place called Take Warning, a name thought given in
warning to Greeks who have began to think that victories
in Asia Minor mean something to Carthage. Hannibal sat in
his tent looking at the reports from the southeast. Greek
colonists & hoplites
had landed on Greek territory in southern
Italy. If the colony was left to be built a portion of Carthage Italy
would be claimed.
ComingofwarGreeks01.jpg

"I have fought to long & hard for this Roman land.
Now it is Carthage Italy!! No part will be taken by Anyone!"

He said slamming a fist on the marble table he had take as war
profits from the taking of Neapolis.

"Take Warning Greeks! I have canceled the RoP between us. The
Spices of Carthage no longer go to your marketplaces."

In his mind, Hannibal hoped for peace but the 4th Greek colony
in North Afrika had broken a truce that had lasted over a hundred
years. Now they threaten Carthage Italy. But if the Greeks did
colonize in Italy it would be short lived at best. Hannibal had
moved Carthaginian troops to the Carthage Italy plains that would
be claimed by the Greeks.

The Carthage Navy has moved into position at the Greek cities of
Corinth, Mycenae, Ambrica & Tegea, North Afrika were a Greek
ship was chased into the safety of the harbor. How the Admirals
will be please if war comes.
Comingofwar03.jpg
ComingofwarGreeks02.jpg

Carthage spys have reported on all Greek cities within reach of
Carthage Italy. Even where the spy could not land they somehow
made it into the cities.

Seeing as war is coming Carthage is probably going to want those barricades removed.

I am still waiting for GG's vote on my proposal regarding coastal blocking. Also waiting for Eclipse's.

According to my proposal those smaller islands would remain blockaded.

An island is considered to be any landmass not somehow connected to Italy.

Island Blocking is now defined as the positioning of units with the intent to prevent an opponent from landing on an island. An island is considered blocked if there are less than 2 squares open for an opponent to land on.

Island blocking is illegal for all islands that have more than 3 squares.

If the only remaining cities that you control are on blocked islands the block must be removed.

Any player in violation of these rules must remove the block and pay compensation for damages that the block may have caused. Payment will be determined by the other players.

Well the problem is that there are no amphibious troops or lethal bombardment ships. I'd want to hear the historical basis for not being able to invade small islands before I decide.

Segusio is safe ...for the moment.
Garrisons hastily despatched to support the XXXIII Legion did their duty almost being destroyed in the process (1/4) they have returned to Segusio to recruit more brave citizens, the similarly reduced Heavy cavalry are also replacing their losses in the Military town.

Romano-Goth_War.JPG

Despite Teuton attacks the Garrisons from Segusio held out, just!
4/4XXXII Heavy Cavalry vs. 3/3 Teutonic Warrior => 4/4 XXXII Heavy Cavalry and 0/3 Teutonic Warrior
3/6 XXXIII Legion(III) vs. 2/3 Teutonic Warrior => 2/6 XXXIII Legion(III) and 0/3 Teutonic Warrior
4/4 XXXIII Heavy Cavalry vs. 3/3 Teutonic Warrior => 5/5 XXXIII Heavy Cavalry and 0/3 Teutonic Warrior

An imperial decree has said no Roman Galley will be named unless victorious in battle.
4/4 Galley vs. Diantius (Galley) 4/4 => 0/4 Galley and Dintius (Galley) 3/4
well that went well :shake:

Is the fort mighter than the firecat ... we will see

Hey,

Greek Diplomatic Message

Pinman said:
I have consulted with Kingstuart and have made my decision.

True you are correct about the 4rth African Colony. HOWEVER, the colony was completely necessary, not to invade Carthage, but to invade Persia.

It is still a 4th colony in North Afrika. The Greeks broke the truce you
freely state. Carthage views the Nile as the seperating factor between
North Afrika & Asia Minor.

Pinman said:
Therefore there is no way that I will remove the colony or give it to Carthage. Some kind of payment is not out of the question. The following situation would also have to be resolved though:

What payment could the Greeks offer that would soothe thier minds
of thier betrayal of Carthage?

Pinman said:
Your actions in Rome and your movement of Galleys within Greece constitute a declaration of war. Therefore you should know right now that should you not garentuee the safety of that colony and all others, and pledge to remove your forces, A STATE OF WAR will exist between Greece and Carthage starting from my next turn. I would further note that you investigated the wrong cities.;)

The only action that will be taken is when you remove that
colonist from Italy. Carthage will remove its ships from Greek
waters.

If the colonist or a colony is in Italy, then Carthage can only
assume the Greeks crave war. I repeat no Carthage Italy
Territory will be claimed by you Greeks.

Pinman said:
I don't want this to happen but it may be required. I don't comply with threats, only peaceful negotiation.

Considering that it is the Greeks who are making the threats.
It is up to the Greeks to make the Peaceful move. Not Carthage.

Sounds alittle Hasdrubalian to me.

Has diplomacy run its course then?:(

Very well, we shall respond to the Carthagian threat accordingly.

OOC: It is 100% not personal and I remembered the difference.:D

The fact that I support Limited-Coastal warfare has never been a secret.
Looking at the map you will notice that all of the major islands cannot be blocked according to my policy which is very different than Hasdrubal's which I opposed with you. Finally I am not imposing my own policy on everybody else.

Rest assured however, that it appears doubtful at this point that I will be supported. If that is the decision I will obey the rules to the letter.

Good luck to the Carthagians in the upcoming conflict.:D Heres to some good fights for the game!

form a distance, the combined armies of the south and the east converge upon the gateway to Hades,
and together they shall scatter salt upon the fields of the ruins.

Oooo its gonna be good. The Persopolis Elite Army Marches North, they Rally in each city as the pass bringing once again the idea they Rule this land. The wind at our back we Ride North.

I have found Ideal "Greek Island" to invade but alas I can not due to units in every square.

Playing tonight but some of us might be surprised by the events of this turn.
I bet that some of us might even be a tinge disappointed.

The Greeks will not create an additional war. We will back down in all areas.

This does not mean that there will not be a war. We are not naive and we see what Carthage is doing. If you want war Carthage--> FINE but you will declare war on us.

Musings From Macedonia

Zela

Alexander The Good stood above the city of Zela examining its defenses. He frowned as he noted that the city's defensive line was incomplete. His men had catured the city yesterday and yet the Greek Defenses were not yet fully operational.

The Great Leader was still deep in thought when he heard the sound of footsteps behind him. He spun around quickly but relaxed when he saw that it was just a Greek Messanger.

"Good morning My lord," greeted the messanger, "I have news from King Pinman:king: ".

"What does his Majesty want with me?" asked Alexander cautiously.

"His Majesty has new instructions for you my Lord", replied the messanger who was already sweating and shaking from the heat, " He wants you to dispatch an advance guard towards Kandahar and he wants it done immediately."

Alexander was surprised but did not let it show on his face . He quickly instructed his messanger boy to give the instructions to the General in change of the Western Defenses. With that done he devoted his attention back to the messanger. It was just the two on them standing on the city's hills.

"Sir there is just one more thing, but this is a national secret". The messanger bent towards Alexander's ear as if to whisper.

Alexander had a quick eye, so he saw the knife heading towards him.
