C3C PBEM : "Happy Trails" - Rise of Rome scenario

Hey,

GPS

Carthage War Report

Dolphinius
Hannibal had return to Dolphinius after hearing that
the Greeks found peace & not pandora. But the Greeks
were now the least of his problems. The Romans had
built 2 forts north of Take Warning. The reports also
gave the defenses of both forts. Elites & the best
equipped fighting units in the world, Legionarie (III).
He would have to do something about that 2 head
snake.

Celtic Lands
He had received word that contact had
been made in the Celtic Lands. A Spainish Heavy
Cavalry
had defeated a Roman Cavalry. This gave
the Carthaginian commander the view of Romans
moving south. But as this victory was being played
out. Word came from Carthage that the Celts were
given the city of Nemetocenna.

At this it was decided to cut the road leading to the Gothic territories whilst our forces recover from the onslaught.

Near the now Gaul town of Nemetocenna

Roman forces continue to work on the southern defences as an unpreceedented military build-up continues.

Musings From Macedonia

Athens, Greece, Palace of King Pinman
After the First Attack on Kahandar

King Pinman:king: sat on his cushioned throne and pretended to listen to the Celtic Ambassador. The man was blathering on about 'good intentions' and 'mutual advancement'. The Greek King really couldn't care less about the Celts but appearances had to be kept.

Just as the ambassador was concluding an especially boring part of his proposal, a man ran into the throne room. The man, out of breath from running, was dressed in the robes of a Greek messanger.

"Your Majesty," began the messanger, "I come bearing news from the front."

King Pinman:king: motioned impatiently to his guards to admit the man. "Well," asked the king, "Has Zela been taken yet?"

"Yes", replied the surprised messanger, "But surely your majesty knew that? I am here to report that Kandahar has been attacked as per your instructions. Our spies were incorrect about the city's defenses your majesty. The Persians fooled everybody! The city was barely defended at all!"

King Pinman:king: was shaking with rage. He was not the person who ordered the attack on Kandahar. Sombody else had the nerve to write up an order in his name! More importantly, although he was not even aware of the incident at the time, he did not send a messanger to assasinate Alexander the Good. Somebody else did that, and that person was also gunning for our good king.

Kandahar

General Antipatros stood examining the battlefield at the gates of Kandahar. The area was spewed with Persian dead from the 10 year siege. Last night, He had lead his men on a final attack against the city. The defenders were unprepared and couldn't even begin to resist the onslaught. Kandahar was his for the glory of Greece.

Hey,

Carthage War Report

Carthage Returns to the Vines.

Northeast of Dolphinius
With the Greeks out of mind Hannibal set into motion a plan
to counter the nearest Roman fort. Loving known to the
Carthaginian troops as Parum matris Meretricis domus. He
looked at the old battlefield. There had been two Battles
of the Vines
. Much Roman blood soaked this earth. It was
the high times of the Carthage War Horses. A time of victory
and leaders. The great commander Hanno was born here.
Destorying a infamous Roman garrison & gaining his own
War Oliphant Bodyguard.

But that was then. The years had & Roman garrisons had
changed the tactics of warfare. Forts & defense were the
Roman way. That to was going to change he thought.
The new Legionarie (III)s were now the prime unit of any
Roman force. This would bring change.

Hannibal had ordered the construction of a road across the
battlefield. To guard this work party, he sent in Firecats,
the group of Numidians known as The 13 & HC. He knew the
Romans would react, but how hard was the question. The
Carthage fleets could supply reinforcement from every part
of the kingdom. He had little to fear.

However the establishment of new settlements on the east coast, should allow aid to be sent south more easily :)

Here's a useful website I found that could help with the flavour of the campaign ;)

Hey,

Here's a useful website I found that could help with the flavour of the campaign ;)

I use this over in Kasthadast for names. I also used it for the name of the Roman fort
Parum matris Meretricis domus, "Little Mother Whore House". :groucho:

I also have a site for names but I probably wont end up using it.

I have played the save but I can't GPS w/o a report and i'm just too tired tonight.

Expect it tommorow afternoon.

Musings From Macedonia

Blood Sport- Two Weeks Later

Alexander the Good Sat in his tent; He was examining a recently constructed map of the Persian Defenses at Iconium.

The tent flap opened and General Antipatros, who had just been transfered to be Blood Sport, bowed to his commanding officer. Alexander stood quickly, silently wincing from the injury in his chest. It had been two weeks since the confrontation between himself and the fraudulent Greek Messanger yet his chest still pained him were he had been stabbed.

Alexander was lucky to be alive. Had the knife wound been half an inch higher he would be a very dead man. The Messanger had not been so lucky. Before he could finish off Alexander, a fortuitous Greek Patrol had come into view. Rather than face justice, the assasin had thrown himself into the sea. They didn't find the body.

General Antipatros brought him sharply back to reality. "Sir." he said "I am pleased to report that we are ready to begin."

Alexander nodded and followed the general out of the tent.

Memphis

Greek forces under Commander Hector, took the Persian stronghold at Memphis. This is perceived to be a milestone in the fight against Persian Influence at the Africa - Asia Minor Divide.

PS: The destruction of roads last turn was designed to truly seperate the two continents. Thus we consider Memphis to be part of Asia Minor for our understanding with Carthage.

Hey,

Carthage War Report

Little Mother Fired Upon.

Roman fortification "Little Mother Whore House"
The commander of the Elite I Nora War Horse sat & watched
the volley of 7 Carthaginian firecats sail into the defenders of
Parum matris Meretricis domus.
He knew the campaign tactics of his Hannibal. Firecats, then a
raid to test the Roman Legionaries (III). Even facing Roman firecats
the War Horses would be the ones to do the raiding. But today
was not his day to go. He would be held for the main attack.
The Carthaginian firecats had done a fine job of hitting every
Legionarie (III). Then a raid by Spainish Heavy Cavalry was
successful doing damage before retreating.

GP and will S tonight
Brief Report
Heavy Cavalry staged a fighting withdrawl against the Goths destroying 2 Teuton Warriors in the process. Do the Goths consider Rome so weak that it can induldge in a campaign against Persia.

In southern Italy, probing attacks by Heavy Cavalry were easily beaten off by Numidian Mercenaries :(
A roman galley was lost in action to a Carthaginian ship (no change there  )
