C3C PBEM : "Nimitz" - WWII pacific scenario PBEM (level : newbees)

Hi all,

Sorry about the late notice but I had to move house pretty quickly and won't have internet access till next weekend, provided the internet installation at the new place went smoothly.

I'll still have net access from work (but obviously can't play there ;) ) so if anyone wants to contact me, just send me an email or post here, I'll still be checking them while I'm 'away'.

cheers :)

lot of bombs on troops near Peking and on the city of Midway (destroyed barracks, marketplace and killed 1 pop)

The commonwealth is proud to announce the taking of the metropolis of Saigon with minimum bloodshed (It seems the Japanese player was not expecting such a move) =) We also have to report the destruction of a Japanese army and its infantry guard near Bangkok by our armoured divisions. Finally liberation forces have set siege to the cities of Bangkok and Menado and expects to free their oppressed citizens within the next month.

Battle report is as follows:

Saigon:
+ Saigon is taken!
+ 1 vet MG destroyed
+ 1 vet bomber destroyed
+ 1 vet Gueirlly destroyed

- 1 marine who was too eager to assault Saigon that he overdrank and has been discharged for disorderly conduct.

Bangkok:
+ 1 13hp infantry army destroyed!
+ 1 Reg infantry suffered the same fate

Manokwari:
+ 1 vet CA sunk

Kudat:
+ 1 DD lost 1 hp

The tide of war is clearly turning to the allies...Japan struggles to keep its fledgling empire alive.

A stack of units near Nanning was bombarded and bombed to 1 hp each (except the Flak). The Chinese army then sent in the Tanks and Infantry to wipe out the machinegun and Flak (a 1hp Nip still remains). The tank unit took heavy losses in the hills (-3hp), one veteran infantry unit was wiped out, but a conscript unit of Chinese Boy Scouts then followed up and killed the Flak. The Boys were awarded with medals and a promotion to Regular status.

Medium Tanks attacked one of the machineguns on the hills near Taiyuan after artillery reduced the already damaged unit to 1hp. Then another medium tank unit killed a 3/4 Nipponese infantry unit in the same square.

Infantry demolished the railroads between Hue and Hanoi.

Allies: 20795vp; Japan: 22705vp

To my allies...disregard the comment about taking Saigon...

Japan:
2 infantry near Peking killed
various units bombed to 1hp near Peking

Two more cities fell to the Commonwealth onslaught this month with the key city of Bangkok and the island city of Puerto Princess taken with minimal resistance.

The allies now officially leads in VPs! (but only by a very fractional amount :D )

Allies: 23385
Japan: 23315

Battle report:

Bangkok:
- Bangkok is liberated!
- 2 flaks destroyed
- 1 MG killed
- 1 Guerilla killed
+ Commonwealth had no losses

Puerto Princess:
- Puerto Princess is liberated!
- 1 marine killed
- 1 nipponese infantry killed

Near Pnom-Penh:
- 2 workers attempting to link Japan's only source of rubber were captured and sent to join our crowding POW labour force.

Saigon:
- 1 marine killed
- 1 MG redlined
+ Commonwealth lost 1 marine

The Chinese armored brigades suffered their worst setback of the war when a Nipponese Infantry unit which was all but destroyed (1 hp left) wiped out an entire veteran medium tank brigade and damaged another (that finally killed the unit) for 1hp. The hills south of Nanning will have many graves of noble Chinese warriors.

Meanwhile, the medium tank brigades did a stellar job of wiping out 2 guerillas who foolishly tried to get near Taiyuan.

Our airforce also managed to destroy the barracks of Hanoi, but scouts report that no soldiers were sleeping there at the time... :p

Message from Emperor Yamomoto:
"We not surrounded, we not give up, and we not raize our cities to prevent enemy advance! We prefer the death instead of disohnour!"

Hiya fellows,
This is getting close to the end as it seems. I realise at some time that I make some serious mistakes at begining. The most severe was to understimate China. I should finsh the yellows just in the first turns! ;)
Anyway you guys playing well, good coordination so it is a good victory to you.
I realise I could did better but, well first time ever I played this scenario so, yes, next time will be different.
Anyway it was fun! From now, if you want me, come in! I am wating for you all with a jap machine gun and some rices bags. And it will be a mano-mano fight! :)

Report from last combats:
Several bombs!
kill 2 british tanks near pnom-pheng.
lost 1 engineer near saigon.
1 bomb lost pekin.

yama

killed 1 infantry near Peking
bombs here and there

Well played Yama, this is my first PBEM and I had a lot of fun :)

Not to sound vain but I think you also forgot the Commonwealth :D , I was expecting either some island hoping from the Jap marines or bombings from the carriers but neither came and it gave me the chance to build my economy up and really roll out those troops later on.

Onwards with the game, the metropolis of Hue had been conquered along with the Japanese marine army as the achievements of the Commonwealth this month.

Hue:
- Hue is captured with buildings intact!
- 1 vet Nip infantry killed
- 1 guierilla killed
- 1 DD sunk
- 1 transport sunk

Saigon:
- 1 DD sunk

Pnom-Penh
- 1 marine army bombed then killed by our 1hp tank!
- 1 vet guierilla bombed to 1hp

Vietnam has been all but liberated by the Commonwealth forces but at what price to the country and its people?

Yes of course! Commonwealth did great also. Well the thing is, I know now that I should take and control first the yellows, leaving the pressure to their cities since from the begining and, next the commonwealth, that is the next power close enough that can do some damage.
I adventure for the seas and to Usa. And that was a mistake. (at least at that moment, i would say)
Anyway, it was not my first pbem but was my first scenario of this kind.
I am more a rise of rome type. But was a nice experience.
I am not raizing or leave cities, or even destroy its improvements because that only would delay the inevitable and would be terrorism. :)
So i am here, sitting and waiting... come one in,,, i will blow some heads with ... (I hope!) ;)

Actually, according to the setup rules, razing and abandoning cities is prohibited anyways.

China vs Japan:
--Med. Tank kills infantry near Nanning
--Canton captured by Medium tanks and Medium Tank army (I took 2 or 3 hp damage total). Canton had most of its buildings intact, but its residents had been brainwashed by the evil Japanese. We are confident that they will be straightened out soon.
--Cows near Pusan bombed.

vp's so far: Allies 27375; Japan 23810

@ Yamamoto...they fed and supplied your armies! hehehehe

Dutch turn played and sent. Davau Captrued. (at least I think that was the one witht he British tanks near it). Soon the Dutch will be on an Island hopping campaign that the Japs won't be able to stop. This assumes that Rcoutme ans Gishimibop haven't put us over the top for VP by then...

LOL, grr...stop conquering the cities I'm about capture just cause I don't have any marines available and had to land tanks first :(
