The Treaty of Strassburg
In the interest of the hasty return of peace to Europe and the satisfactory resolution of the underlying causes of the Lisbon War, the signatories of this treaty agree and will abide by this treaty in its entirety.
I. Signatories
a) The treaty will not take affect unless it is signed and ratified by all participants: Britain, Germany, Austria-Hungary, France, Spain, and Portugal.
II. The Cessation of Conflict
a) All signatories shall make peace with each other in game as soon as possible.
b) All signatories agree not to take military action against each other while peace is brought about in-game.
c) All signatories shall immediately begin to withdraw troops from enemy territory.
III. The Return of Lands
a) The cities of Limoges and Bordeaux are immediately restored to France. The captured trench outside of Brussels is leased perpetually to Germany.
b) All cities belonging to Spain prior to the war with Portugal are immediately returned. This includes Huesca, Villa Cisneros and the Canary Islands.
IV. The Neutrality of Continental Portugal
a) The city of Lisbon is immediately returned to Portugal.
b) Continental Portugal (defined as the cities of Porto and Lisbon) is recognized as perpetually neutral, and all signatories agree to respect this neutrality at all times.
c) Colonial Portugal (defined as any Portuguese possessions outside the cities of Porto and Lisbon) is not affected in any way by this treaty.
d) The signatories agree to protect this neutrality and defend Portuguese neutrality, even if by force of arms, in the event of a non-signatory violating it.
e) In the event of Portuguese aggression, actions may be taken against Portuguese possessions outside of the two cities in order to swiftly bring about peace.
V. War Indemnities
a) France agrees to pay Spain 1000 G immediately in order to rectify the losses incurred by Spain as a result of the war.
VI. Duration of the Treaty
a) The treaty takes effect at the beginning of Week 17, 1897
b) All signatories agree to avoid war with each other throughout the year 1897.
c) The timeframe of this treaty is indefinite.
