C3C PBEM : "Pydna" - Rise of Rome scenario (level : newbees)

I must that was quite a brilliant move onedreamer.
But the Roman people will fight to the end.

what was the brilliant move?

Hannibal's Army landed in Italy and attacked Croton while his brother Hasdrubal marched with the rest of the mighty Carthaginian Army through Spain and arrived at the gates of the recently conquered roman city of Massilia.

The two sieges concluded with two great victory and minimal losses, thanks to Elephants ability to sneak out of combat and due to a weak resistance, even weaker than hoped. Perhaps Rome is too busy sending their legions to the slaughter on the Carthaginians islands...

The naval battles sadly ended up with a draw of one to one in this season.

I must remark that the coward Romans have dragged the stupid Celts into a shameful treachery, since the barbarians broke their military alliance with Carthage only to ally against them, and therfor passing to the loosing side. Needless to say they will be properly dealt with, and that their southernmost town has been already pillaged and destroyed as a punishment and a warning. I want to send ambassadors to our friendly neighbours to let them know what kind of tricky politics Romans and Celts bring on, and warn them not to trust them or ever help them.

I must also remark that Greeks refused to lay help to Carthage and even to their former colony of Massilia when asked, this will not be forgotten in the times when Macedonia will have to reinforce their eastern borders as opposed to their western ones... :mischief:

One last message has to be sent to the Persian Emperor: one last warning to not renew any trade deals with Rome if Persia doesn't want to replan their upcoming invasion of Macedonia to defend their southern borders...

Persia will do as she pleases and will not take ultimatums from Hannibal the Cannibal. If Cannibal doesn't think I have troops in my southern cities then maybe he needs a violent introduction. Furthermore, if Cannibal keeps this up he will find himself at war with the whole world. If, however, Cannibal would like to make an offer on the goods I offer to the other civs, then Persia is willing to listen. Until that is done, I would like to let Rome know that Persia looks to RENEW its trade deals in the very NEXT TURN.

Other news: I have already dispatched a set of troops to take out the Hoplite holed up on the mountain between his and my territory. After numerous pelting with Persian and Macedonian catapults (most of which didn't land), a Heavy Cavalry attacked only to retreat. Then, an Immortal was sent in to take a shot and did his generals proud. But I guess I have stingy generals as they did not upgrade his status.

Carthage has closed its Embassy in Persia.

I guess calling their leader Cannibal will do that. Oh well, Persia has commandiered the building which was once the Carthaginian embassy, fumigated it to kill all the cockroaches, and turned it into a processing plant for real meat, namely beef and sheep (which happens to be the Persian Emporer's favorite!).

In light of this new development, Rome proposes that Macedon and Persia attack Carthage and punish it for its threatment of the peaceful Roman people. Rome would like to remind Persia of its long partnership with Rome and that one day the cannibals forces will come after you.

where is this game? with all that's going on, i am eager to play but there's no sign of the game. is Macedona not interested in this game anymore? if so, please let us know so we can get a substitute.

The civilized world won't listen to lies about cannibalism and other silly remarks. Fact is, Rome bribed the once allied people of Celts and Egypt to attack Carthage, and now is trying the same with Persia and Macedonia. We know that the enlightened and philosophycal people of Greece won't believe Roman lies and tricky politics, as for Persia, we leave the Emperor in his land far away to enjoy his sheep's meat. Who would want such an arid land anyways ?

Carthage continues to insult Persia, first with threats and now insulting the land. And, why? What has Persia done to draw this type of attitude from Carthage? We traded with Carthage like with any other civ. Yes, I was trading with Rome as well but this is business and not war. So, what is the motivation behind all this? Could it be that Carthage looks to eventually invade everyone's territory?

And, now, Carthage finds itself at war with all but 3 civs. Just like I predicted, if you keep it up, you're going to find yourself at war with everyone. Certainly, you won't be getting any help from me, you big CANNIBAL!

The Celtic and Egyptian people have seen the error of attacking Rome. Hopefully soon the friends of Rome will rise up destroy the menece of Cartage.

Uh... well I give my best congratulations to Persia for its great diplomatic skills. Defining Celts, Goths and Romans civilizations is surely a great act of mediation

However we, from the heights of our diplomatic skills, would like to remark that we insulted none's land. Persians should be proud of their land and happy if someone else doesn't understand or want it. Are Persians proud of their land ? Why then are they trying to conquer's greek lands from centuries ?

That is an insult.

My diplomatic skills towards the AI? All I would have to do is offer him 10 gold.

It seems Carthage likes to avoid the issue... that it cannot dictate Persia's dealings with other civs, be they friend or foe of Carthage.

Sequence of events:

6 catapults fire off - 2 successfully hit their targets (I wonder what's the point of having so many artillery when the success rate is so low!)

1 Heavy Cavalry attacks Hoplite and runs

Another Heavy Cavalry attacks and kills second Hoplite

1 Heavy Cavalry attacks and kills Hoplite

1 Heavy Cavalry attacks Macedonian Heavy Cavalry and loses/dies

1 Heavy Cavalry attacks and kills Heavy Cavalry

1 Immortal attacks and kills Heavy Cavalry

1 Immortal attacks but Heavy Cavalry runs

2 Immortal attacks and kills 2 Heavy Cavalry

1 Horseman attacks and kills Heavy Cavalry and finds 3 Hoplites waiting in the wing

The Romans ports are falling one after another... We wonder if the Emperor will leave his royal table filled with sheep meat to deliever Persian goods to Caesar personally ?

Is that another threat Carthage?

We prefer actions to threats actually. The fact that Rome can't trade without ports is a simple statement, not a threat. As well as Persia being arid is a statement and not an insult.

best regards

where is the game ? I got a GPS 3 days ago...

didn't get a war update but my horseman is gone... oh well... after catapulting, my heavy cavalry makes short work of 3 hoplites. horsemen go in to finish the job on the last one.
