C3C PBEM : "Scipion" - Rise of Rome scenario-based PBEM

165 b.c. to Carthage

Bombarded Iconium with catapolt and destroyed the walls.

160 b.c. to Carthage.

Bombarded Iconium with catapolt and wounded four Hoplites.

160BC
Northern Italy
The city of Confinium was destroyed. It was only defended by 2 red-lined Legionaries so it looks like our Celt allies are doing a good job - the same can't be said for the Goths.
The army of Rome has been sighted for the first time. Where's Hannibal when you need him!
Southern Italy:
Invasion underway again. It looks like it's going to be a slog.

Actually I believe that was the second Roman army...

The first will be deployed to fight you off in souther Italy...

The Redlined Legions were wounded fighting off the hated Celts...

I'll get to play it tomorrow, and try to send it on ASAP...

I knew this was not going to be easy! I will just have to rely on my numerical superiority ;) Actually, the Celts must be giving you a lot of Elite troops and on balance doing you a favour(?)

Here's the tally on the payback:

In Southern Italy, my Leigons eliminated 2 Numidian Mercinaries. 1 Leigonary III was promoted to Elite and Ceaser Augustus has been dispatched to crush further Carthaginian insurgencies.

Near Beneventum, 1 Heavy Cavalry was destroyed.

In Northern Italy, Hadrian's army destroyed two Heavy Cavalry. Leigons also destroyed one argher and forced one Heavy Cavalry to run screaming like a little girl.

You may have the numbers, but your victory will leave so many dead Carthaginian soldiers that you will need to invade Persia to make room for the dead to have their own graves...

Southern Italy: destroyed 2 legions. I would save your armies for the defence of the city of Rome.

The best defence is a good offence.

Played and sent. Killed a couple more trespassing Carthaginian Heavy Cavalry. Planning to kill more next turn. Also encountered Hannibal. One of my legions put up a brave fight, but came up short. Flee or die...

Rome's army was stopped at the gates of the invasion port (Hades) that I've set up in southern Italy. The cost of stopping this army was around 10 veteran cavalry (ouch).

In other action in the north east of Italy, Hannibal's weary army attacked the walled town of Beneventum. He won (and razed the city) but he's unlikely to survive a counter-attack.

He didn't survive the counter attack.

Also dead is a Numidian Merc near Hades and a Heavy Cavalry near Pisae.

Almost 2 weeks since I've seen this one. Where is it?

 Just checked my old mail and saves. It's me that's holding it up. :wallbash:
I'll play it now .

145 b.c. sent to KingArthur
Somebody should have got on my case over that one. :)

As punishment for holding the turn for so long, I would like to propose a sanction to greybeard. He has to disband 5 cavlry units near iconium ;)

Or at least make him fight a war on two fronts. The Carthaginians would make a worthy opponent...

140 AD played and sent to Portuga.

Killed one Numidian Mercinary in Souther Italia and lost a Legionary III. Killed a Heavy Cavalry in the North.

And Carthage has again bribed the Celts and one other barbarian nation to join their fight against me...
