C3C PBEM : "Shogun" - Sengoku scenario-based PBEM

Uesugi is now at war with Date.
Your warrior was aproaching our worker in a suspicious way, and I have to protect my civilians. My only choice was to attack you with my shogun, who defeated your warrior.
We don't want this war, but we will not tolerate agressive moves near my borders.

@Portuga: Well, I guess I would have to re-evaluate the approach to the game. First, you say that you want peace and cooperation. Second, you attack without prior warning or declaration of war a unit which is outside of your borders. Overall, clan of Date considers this a clear sneak attack and completely unprovoked. Civilized samurai did not behave in such a way even at the dawn of the shogun era. You should have waited for Ronin and Ninja for this kind of strategy.

Understanding that Rocinante-type approach to diplomacy and warfare might be popular, I still cannot accept this and therefore would like to declare a permanent state of war with clan Uesugi until either of the clans is eliminated. No peace will ever be acceptable, no negotiation apart from battle log, and the whole clan of Date set their short-term goal as elimination of the Uesugi clan from the game.

Of course we may be wrong but, your "agressive" city placement and movement of troops threatning my civilians, only lead me to believe that the elimination of the Uesugi clan was part of your plan from the beggining.

I just offered you the excuse you needed, to justify to the other clans why you want to fight us.

We have no fear of the Date, and will keep on defending ourselfs if you aproach our territory again.

@Ironduck: You can ask Rocinante himslef about his patented PBEM-playing strategies. An example: Negotiate tech trading and peace with your neighbor, then spot a city defended by only one warrior, come to that city with your warrior and raze the city. Source: Eliit game, my personal experience. One can say, don't leave cities with only one warrior defending them. But am I too naive to trust to a word of a human opponent? :)

@Uesugi: Excuse not granted since any attack without declaration of war is a sneak attack. It is not against any rules, it is just one of the things that makes any dealing with this particular Uesugi clan essentially impossible. And first, my units were not inside your borders. Second, they were not threatening anyone because Date are different, they first declare war and only then attack. Third, certainly Uesugi would prefer that Date settle somewhere far away from Uesugi, however, and you know it very well, Date are essentially cornered in this map. Hence, I would suggest that Uesugi instead have put cities aggressively in the direction of Date. Well, in any case, this discussion is pointless and can be resolved only on the battlefield!

akots, that sounds strange.. I've played two games with Rocinante and we had excellent cooperation in both, in fact he's the player so far I've had the best cooperation with in pbem so I can't recognize that at all..

btw, I really hope no one gets upset in this game regarding wars etc as the scenario looks very interesting (and damn hard, I've got bloody mountains and barbarians all over the place! - on the other hand I seem to have several luxuries available which is nice), so I hope we can keep it going.. (haven't received my turn today though)

Sure, "He laughs best who laughs last", as has been said by a poet long time ago. We'll se how it goes. So far, this games moves OK. :)

Apparently, he found it useful to cooperate with you. Whereas, in my case, the cooperation probably has not been so useful. This is actually annoying indeed but is a fun part of the multi-human PBEM as well! Special pleasure and separate life goal is elimination of Russia in Grognards!

There should be nothing personal in all these cases. This is just a game after all.

Hey, this is just a game. And it's fun to do a little "role play" in the foruns.
It's just a lot of fun to write acusations and threats to other players in the foruns. :)

I still think akot's warrior move was suspicious, and maybe I would accept it if I knew akots style of play. However this is the first game I start near Akots, so I took the safest route :hammer:

I completely agree about the fun of role playing as well as general :hammer: - just mentioned it because it seems half the pbems I've been in now have had controversies with in-game stuff spilling out (which I don't really understand personally)..

Oh, and if the noble Uesugi and Date houses (clans?) should come across a single warrior from the house of Takeda, do not be alarmed! We are merely exploring to learn about the world far away from our mountains.

Btw, why are the team colours so damn close in this scenario? I can hardly tell several of them apart.

I am sorry I am partly color-blind and don't check colors so much... :-(
But the colors aren't mine, they are Firaxis ones, I did not check them right, but I did not make them either.

BTW no turn today ?

I still haven't received my turn..

No worries about the colours, just seemed weird

First one!! You don't call Prussia next to France in Arcole next to each other? Boy, I would hate to see how close you guys are in this one!

House of Mori wonders if there are other houses out there in Japan... anyways, off to house of Uesugi, whom we have heard of by reputation only...

House of Takeda wishes it would stop raining since the roof of the house is full of holes :mischief:
