C3C PBEM -WWII-Game Thread (Tomorrow Belongs to Me)

@Thrust The bomber/interceptor problem was one of many that I addressed in my 'final' version. I increased the interception rate from 50% to 65%. I also changed research (and a great many other things). Still, this particular version has been interesting. :)

whatever the tweaks i just don't see why the Axis should have such a technological advantage which bears no resemblance to the historical reality.

Neither did I, that is why I changed all of that. Although this is probably off-topic:

Major changes include: many of the techs have been given to all players, Britain starts with radio (which should have been renamed to radar), Germany begins with the paratroopers tech.

Techs are more expensive and ToE is not an option!

Many of the more advanced techs can not be traded.

France, Netherlands and England are in a locked alliance against Germany and Italy.

Panzers have a minor (1/4) 0-range bombard. USSR and France have 'resistance' cities and the ability to build 'resistance guerillas' (which tread all terrain as road).

A new tech, ASW Warfare, allows the creation of ASW destroyers--these can see submarines.

http://forums.civfanatics.com/showthread.php?t=94642 has most of the relevant changes listed (as well as the game itself, of course).

Actually, Dogboy is trying to tell you that he is using artillery to bombard your coast. Anyways, the thread Operation Market Garden is the first pbem being done with this scenario as shown. It seems to be fairly balanced so far (the AI playing against AI is balanced, but human vs human is not yet tested).

Anyways, it seems to be a lot of fun. I am also playing a one-on-one with Bkgreatwarnut (he has the allies, I have the axis, Spain and Sweden are neutrals and are not allowed to be cajoled into the war--they have to ask). That one is going more towards the axis than in Market Garden.

The Soviets wish to announce that they are now at war with Germany. Alarmed by the massive buildup of forces on the German/Soviet border, the Soviets pre-emptively launched air-raids into the border areas to disrupt all roads leading into the Soviet Union. As to the Germans: The last message we will ever send you is one that Napoleon learned too late:

Зима всегда приходит.

...и она всегда страшно холодная.

Too bad there is no WINTER handicap in this game...

@ Thrust: Artillery does not kill units. You are wounding my units in Cherbourg, but you are not killing anything.

@ Rubberjello: What does that mean, whatever it is that Napolean didn't learn.

The peaceful Germans were surprised attack by the untrustworthy and deceitful Russians. True, we never had a formal peace agreement, but we have lived together in peace all these many years. This past month, without warning, the Russians launched a massive artillery attack on our roads in an attempt to disrupt our attempts at getting our children to their schools, our men to their jobs in factories, and our women to their tea socials. They claim it was due to massive German build-up on our mutual border, but that is a lie! The Germans can prove with irrefutable evidence that we have not been stationing any troops on the German-Russian border. We were temporarily set back by this treacherous act, but recovered quickly enough to be able to capture a few Russian cities in an attempt to negotiate peace. The peace loving Germans can only hope that the Russians see the error of their ways and come to the peace table quickly so we can correct this obvious misunderstanding between us.

BATTLE REPORTS:
Russia:
Lost the city of Odessa
Lost the city of Cernovcy
Lost the city of Brest-Litovsk
Lost the city of Hronda
Lost the city of Kisinev
Lost the city of Lvov
Lost one infantry in Brest-Litovsk
Lost two fighters near Leningrad

English:
City of Sevilla was bombed, but I don't know if any units were lost.
City of Southampton was bombed.

Germany:
Lost two bombers near Leningrad

Sweden:
Signed a death pact (MPP) with Russia so we are now at war again.

Spain:
For some reason they are back at war with me again.

The Soviet Union wishes to reassure its allies that the "cities" that Germany took this month were in fact ghost-towns. They were stripped bare and most residents evacuated into worker groups long ago. Only a few malcontents and non-citizens remained to hide from the Germans.
We will welcome the invaders into the vast reaches of the Steppes. Our peasants need the soil to be enriched with their blood to grow better crops after the war!

The German people would like to note that their won't be any Soviets left to grow crops after the war. They will all be slaves to the Reich. I still can't believe that you attacked the peace loving and ever so gentle Germans. What were you thinking???

My guess is Pirke has it, seeing as how I sent the game to him. I haven't seen him since yesterday in this or other games we are in, but hopefully he will play them soon.

Oops, my bad. I meant I sent the game to Rcoutme who I haven't seen yesterday or today. Sorry for the confusion.

Not much happened in the Mediterranean Front. The English appear to have abandoned all hopes of taking Tobruk.

During the inter-turn movement a funny thing happened (funny for the axis, not so for the allies and USSR), the Soviets declared war on the English. Hmm...you just can't trust those commies. :crazyeye: :mischief:
