*** GAME FINISHED ***

Hi, this is the thread for the new WWII Pacific conquest PBEM aimed at newbies.

The game has 4 newbees (to PBEM) already. One experienced player would be a nice addition.

Yap is an island close to Truk.

It is for Conquests, using the MP version of the WWII Pacific scenario and the patch 1.22.
So you need to have both Conquests and the patch 1.22 installed on your computer.

5 civs :

Japan :
USA :
Commonwealth :
China :
Dutch :

Players : 5

1. Howitis
2. fe3333au
3. John_J_Sheridan
4. Spartaca
5. Gnarfflinger

You want to be in ? You have further questions ? Post in this thread or send me a PM. If ready to join, send me a PM with your e-mail.
IMPORTANT : please also write at which time you can play your turn (in GMT time please).

You can also check the sticky thread "newbee guide" where you can find tons of informations on how PBEM works, what you can do and what you should not do, etc... but if it is not clear enough, you can ask here and we will answer you (we are a community of friendly and helpful people).
When the rooster is full, I will send to all of you a planning e-mail with play order, e-mails, etc...

Organization : the game will be called "Yap" to be recognizable and when you get the game, send a mail to inform the sender you got it (GPS = Got it, Played it, Sent it).

Special rules :
- no city razing or abndonning !
- VP level raised to 50,000 (game more balanced).

Hi LouLong

Just in case you don't have it GMT+10.00 (Tasmania, Australia), I'm probably available from 6.30pm - 1.00am on weekdays, weekends change but I'll check regularly.

Don't really mind which civ I play ... I'm assuming that it is Japan vs Rest so I'd like to be one of the Rest ... I'd probably freak out playing Japan  :D

EDIT- flamingeye at optusnet dot com dot au

do you have any spots left. i would love to play. you already have my email but i'll send it too anyways to make sure. my playing time is 15-19 GMT

If you're still looking, I'll join in.

my playing time would be around 17:00-0:00 gmt

that is if i did my calculations correct :). i'm ready to get the ball rollin whenever everyone else is

Hi,

sorry Techguy and Blackbird, but I would prefer the 5th player to be an experienced one so I will let Gnarfflinger take the spot.

In another game maybe ? And you can always start your own in the forums. I am NOT the only one allowed to set up a PBEM ! lol

So Gnarfflinger, how much did you pay Loulong for having some extra practice
for the Kamikaze contest? :mischief:

What is this, some kind of conspiracy?

;)

Fantastic Commonwealth ready to go :)

So whats the next step
John Sheriden gets posted file and sends to Howitis ...

so how is combined stratergy discussed Howitis e-mails the rest of us or what?

@ all: did not put it in the mail because it is already written in the newbee guide but you have to write reports (towns taken, units lost and units defeated (as in PBEM you cannot see these actions).

@ fe3333au : J-Sheridan sends to Howitis (sent actually !). About the diplomacy; you can start already since you all have the mails of your allies.

i have the save file now, i will discuss strategy with my allies before playing though, isn't japan supposed to post ships lost ect? although i guess their only losses were in china???

how many of my ships did you take at pearl harbor!!!! we will avenge this agression.

Empire Hotel - a pub somewhere in Melbourne, Australia

Dave Sullivan (Tram Driver) "I'll have a beer thanks Jack"
Jack (Barman) "No worries mate"
Jack hands Dave a nice 10oz beer "Any word from Tom?"

* Tom is Dave's son he is currently training in Pukapunyal Army Base

Dave "Yeah, he's waiting to be shipped out to fight the Ities in the middle east"

* Ities = citizens of Italy

Jack "Do you remember the last one, those shielas in Cairo?"
Dave "Bloody hell, didn't we have some fun"

Dave contemplates memories of another war as he drinks his cold refreshing ale ... Jack's thoughts also timewarp, however his are embarrassingly painful as he caught a communicatable disease from his Cario liasons.

Jack "What do ya think about the Japs"
Dave "Ha, those bloody yellow bastards wouldn't be so stupid. If they did try anything, the Brits would kick their asses ... cheers mate"
Jack who shouldn't be drinking "Cheers"

After a brief quiet interlude where the only sound is that of a liquid being drunk at a phenominal rate.
Jack "Another?"
Dave "Thanks mate ... when do ya thinks the Yanks will do anything?"
Jack "Don't know, took their bloody time with the last one"
Dave "Yeah ...", more drinking, "BURRP, Oh who do ya think will win in the 7th at Flemmington?"
...
we leave Jack and Dave drinking and toasting secure in their blissful ignorance...

Responding to Sam's e-mail regarding stratergy development -

I just got up (too bloody early  6.00am) can't suggest stratergy at the
moment as I have not seen map ... can I suggest that you react to Japan's
move without consultation and then e-mail your suggested stratergy and victory/loss results to
next player ... each player will do this until back to Japan.

* This will also represent the shock of the surprise element that occured
when Japan entered war ...

I also suggest that we do the usual entries in the CFC PBEM Thread that has
been opened called YAP.

Individual Stratergy can then be devised by each player and then
multi-e-mailed to his/her allies ... the discussion generated will soon
develop the overall stratergy to beat back the threat of the Yellow Peril.

Looking forward to having a fun game with you all.

Suggestions  :D

President Franklin D. Roosevelt: Yesterday, December 7, 1941—a date which will live in infamy—the United States of American was suddenly and deliberately attacked by naval and air forces of the Empire of Japan.

Japan has, therefore, undertaken a surprise offensive extending throughout the Pacific area. The facts of yesterday speak for themselves. The people of the United States have already formed their opinions and well understand the implication to the very life and safety of our nation.

As commander in chief of the Army and Navy I have directed that all measures be taken for our defense. Always will we remember the character of the onslaught against us. . .

i've started my turn

1)attempted to attack japanese battleships of the manila harbor, lost 1 submarine

2)attempted to retake aparri, lost 1 tank division

3)attempted to bomb fleet off of coast of hawaii, bomber was shot down by anti aircraft fire.

4) sunk the CA chamuka off the coast of hawaii, that submarine crew avenged an entire nation with that battle

5)sunk japanese submarine off the coast of hawaii, another glorius battle

6) sunk transport off the coast of wake island, unknown how many or if japanese troops were on board

7) lost 1 destroyer off the honolulu harbor trying to repel japanese battleship, gravely injured said battleship

8) american bombers sunk 1 japanese destroyer

Empire Hotel - a pub somewhere in Melbourne, Australia

Jack "G'day Dave"
Dave Sullivan "G'day Jack, usual thanks mate"
Jack as he hands Dave a 10oz beer, "No worries cobba, read the paper today?"
Dave "Yeah, bloody Nips have attacked the Yanks in Hawaii and around Phillipines"
Jack "Yeah, Looks like things are gonna hot up in the Pacific"

Dave takes a generous swigg from his beer, "Looks like our flyboys had some action up there too."
Jack "Ha, those bloody Japs must be stupid. They're gonna get clobber'd."

Dave raises his glass and downs the rest. "I'll drink to that ... fill 'er up"

Jack pours Dave another beer and one for himself.

Dave "Bloody Hell!!!"
Jack "Easy mate, I nearly splilt the beer!"
Dave "Sorry, but listen to this on page 33 ... a Prank Gone Wrong, air crew in Singapor and Sibu are to be severely reprimanded for loading dummy bombs into Pacific bombers squardons who unwittingly cover a Japanese airbase with dirty laundry"
Jack as he hands over the beer, "Those blokes betta smarten up, its not a flamin picnic"
After a slight pause ...

Jack "Actually not a bad joke though" and starts to chuckle
Dave "Yeah, wonder what Tojo thought ..." also laughs

After they both gain control, they lift their drinks ...

Jack "To the empire"
Dave "God save the King"

They both scull the beer.

Jack "another"
Dave "Yeah ...", more drinking, "BURRP, Oh who won in the 7th at Flemmington?"
...
Once again we leave Jack and Dave to their drinking ...

It's a bug: air units stationed on airfields cannot be damaged/killed by any kind of bombardment (naval, aerial, or from artillery). This does not apply
to planes in cities.

Hi Guys

I forgot I was supposed to write up my first turn on here. Is it OK if I start from next turn, or should I try to reconstruct the turn and write it up?

It was a bit of a comedy of errors anyway, my first go at a scenario.

Cheers

JJS

sorry mate, don't remember exactly how many. I bombed the crap out of it, killed quite a lot of yours and lost a few myself. not a very helpful description, I know

SORRY I will remember to report to battles properly from now on!

We should be able to work it out when the other Allies post :coffee:

Things known so far -

1. Japan without honour, shamlessly sneak attacked an unsuspecting USA.

2. Japan fearing the might and power of the Commonwealth :p , steared clear of United Kingdom interests in the Pacific. :cooool:

3. China and the Dutch  :whipped: are probably unaware that they are at war.

4. Japan = :satan: and Allies = :jesus:

:goodjob:
