C3C Scenario/Mod: Rising Sun

That would be great! And getting it to work should not be that hard. If you manage to download the complete files so that you don't have problems unpacking them (the size is given on the download page), then copy all three (four if you have the PTW extension) to the
..\Civilization III\Conquests\Scenarios
directory. It is important that it is this directory and not either the one from CivIII or PTW. If you use WinZip, all you have to do then is to right click on each zipped file and select 'extract to here'. All the scenario files will then end up in the right directories. If you have the PTW extension, unzip it last. It will overwrite one file. This is ok. If you use another program to unzip the files, maybe some detail will be different, but in principle the procedure should be the same.

Ok I started a new game as Japan. I'm in 500 Ad. Early Middle Ages. Nothing's happpened I settled the top of Manchuria, and some islands. The Chinese declared war on me because I refused to pay them tribute. We made peace a few turns later with no fighting. Right now I plan to settle the nearby islands. Then invade Korea. I'm going to get Minamoto Samuri soon. The Chinese and Mongols are pretty large and more advanced than me. There going to cause some problems in the future.
Anyway here's a screenshot of most of my country.

BTW whats the Holy Relic for? Do I need to deliever it somewhere?

I'm on tech parity with the Mongols and Chinese.

Edit: I would rather give short summries with a screenshot or 2 rather than a per turn repeort.

China declared war on me again because I told them to get out or declare war. I attampted a naval landing at Shanghi with Japanese Swordsmen but my forces were slaughtered.
I also built the Great Library. I'm building more swordsmen.
My cities in Manchuria are'nt well defended and are in danger. I make contact with Rome. I saw a Legion and Settler. Their most likely going to colonize Siberia.
The Chinese send a spearman for me to kill. The English land a warrior from a Currgh near Kyoto( city in Manchuria) hmm... I'm getting suspious.
The Chinese send another Asian spearmen and a Elite warrior to Edo. I evacute the workers hiding there.
It may fall it's only defended by a Joman Warrior.
I tell Korea to get out or declare war and they leave. The English warrior is also advancing toward Edo. I learnt Feudilisim and got Monotheisim free. I'm researching Chivilary now.
Here's a screenshot of Edo and advancing enemies

China attacks I defeatboth of their Asian Spearmen and my Joamn warrior turns elite. I upgrade him. Next turn the Chinese warrior attacks then the ENGLISH declare war on me and attacks Edo! Tratirous dogs! Fourtanetly my defense holds. The Chinese are willing to talk they give me their colony in Siberia for peace.
Screenshot of Aftermath of Battle of Edo.

I upgrade a swordsmen to Minamoto Samuri. I saw some Mongol horsemen movement in the north. I better be on my guard. The Romans amd Arabs send more settlers to colonize Siberia. I think I'll ignore the English for now and attack Korea. Their not very good at amphibous landings.

Edit: The screenshot's not uploading I'll do it tommrow.

Your reports are very nice! Which level do you play on?

The Holy Relic has no important function in the game. It can be scrapped for shields or perhaps sacrificed for culture later. Its main point is, however, to fix a bug in the game related to the placement of starting positions for expansionist civilizations.

EDIT: Did you try the Warrior Monks, or did you prefer the other units?

The screenshot's been uploaded. No I have'nt tried the Warrior Monks they don't seem that useful I have the Jap swordsmen and Minamoto Samurari.

Anyway I upgraded some swords to Samurias. I have three on the border. I just researched Chivilary. I almost built Izumo Shrine and Step Pyramid. I'm trnasporting the Holy Relic to the mainland to help hurry a wonder.
Here's a screenshot of my imperial ambitions in the north and south.

I built the Step Pyramid and I've formulated my plan of attack. now its just a matter of building forces. Here's a screensho tof my plan
http://www.civfanatics.net/uploads6/Plan_of_Attack.JPG

Oh and I learnt Theology.
I built the Izumo Shrine. I made contact with the Byzantines and learnt Invention from them and the Russians. I sign peace with the English. I make contact with India. They build the Tempal of the Sun. I see more Mongol horsemen moement. A bunch of people send settlers to colonize Siberia. I learn Printing Press and make contact with a bunch of nations.
I think I've made contact with everyone now.
More Mongol horse movement
I revolt to Monarchy. I'm seeing a lot of Mongol horsmen moving at the border. There definately at war with someomne. If so I pity the poor fool.
I am now a Monachry. I learn education and Gunpowder from someone I decide to start Astronomy.
I upgrade a bunch of troops to Oda Arquebusiars.
I wake my staks it's time to attack.

I really like your commented screenshots!

The reason I asked about the monk is that I tried to make every unit interesting to use. :) Then, of course, everybody has their own taste. Still, it would be nice to know at which cost the monk would become interesting? The same goes for other units you choose not to build. :)

EDIT: You seem to be doing quite well! It will be interesting to see how the others are doing!

I extort Nampo a Siberian colonyout of them before i attack. I move my stacks to find... Crap! Pikemen! dammit!my Minamoto Samurari are going to be slaughtered! I attack anyway and my first Minamoto Samarui attacks kills the Pikeman and become elite!
I attck with my next Minamoto Samarui and he kills the Asian Spearman becomes elite and capture Pusan.
Heres a screenshot of the fall of Pusan
http://www.civfanatics.net/uploads6/Pusan_Falls1.JPG

both my stacks meet up and we advance on Pyoyang.
Here's another screenshot.

About the Warrior Monks. I suppose they would only be useful If I did'nt have iron but even then I could build the Japanese swordsmen so their pretty usless to me anyway.
I'm glad you like my screenshots. I have a lot of free time as you can probaly tell. I also like screenshots it makes things so much more intreasting.

Edit: My screenshots are'nt uploading agin I'll try later.

Pawel I find that what's really annoying is the massive and unrealsitic colonization of Siberia. I think that maybe you should make tundra unsettleable.

Yeah, I didn't build the Warrior Monk either. I only saw the Koreans build some, late in the game when they were practically dead.

Mr Black: Would it matter if the Warrior Monk cost 35? Right now the upgrade trees for early Japanese offensive units look like this:

1.1.1(10) Jomon Warrior -> 3.2.1(30)Japanese Swordsman -> 3.3.1(40,iron)[+1hp] Minamoto Samurai

2.1.2(30,horses)[zoc] Shoni no Kagesuke -> 4.3.2(60,horses,iron) Nakamaro Horsemen

3.1.2(40) Monk -> 3+.1.3(50, iron)[stealth, hidden nationality] Ninja

silver 2039: You are absolutely right about Siberia. Making tundra unsettlable is a very interesting idea. I would have to take a good look at the map first, though, as Kal-El put lots of tundra on it. :) Fortunately the tundra cities are bound to be small and insignificant...

I would leave it the way it is at 40, a 35 cost W-Monk would make it quite close to the Shoni no Kagesuki, but with a +1 attack. I didn't build them, because I concentrated more on the city improvements.

For tundra, I think unsettable is the way to go. But, make sure you put some hills or something north of Japan on that Russian peninsula. :)

If you have forest on the tundra it is also settleable. You might even want to consider making desert unsettleable. Last time I checked the Sahara or Australian Outback was'nt heavily pouplated. Cities can still be built along flood plains in desert though.

That is absolutely true. However, if you look at how many people each population point represents, you will find that this increases dramatically as the city grows. The small cities on largely uninhabited lands are thus just a means to fix the borders. They are perhaps the tiny villages one can actually find in, for instance, Siberia.

On the other hand, it is a bit unfortunate if the settlement of northern Asia becomes a major issue. Still, I think one really has to be a little careful to make sure that the changes will not have a drastic impact on other continents... After all, in real life almost all the worlds population is concentrated to a very small fraction of the land mass, while most of the world is largely uninhabited, but in civ this would just not work...

EDIT:
silver 2039: Any progress in your game? Are the Koreans eliminated?
