A lot of people have differing opinions on what the picture on the far right of the third row on the leader portraits board shows. I was wondering what the most popular opinion was.

I don't know but I don't think it's anyone famous like Mehmed, Suleiman, Genghis Khan, Ogedei Khan, Xerxes, Cyrus, Darius etc... all whom have dozens of portraits/images.

My guess is it's a new civilization and a not well known leader with few images.

Going to be honest, a man with a large sombrero and bandolier was the first thing I saw. I still see it, even though I don't think we'll get Mexico.

Do others already considered Timur for c5? Ok alphabetically it doesn't fit for timurids, but they could use him as mongolian leader which is acceptable I think. It would at the same time please mongolian fans, turks and possibly persians/iranians (?). I cannot place a picture right now, but there are pictures of him with helmet with feather thing that would fit. Also there are pictures of him with turban too. What do you think?

Going with the hat theme, is it possible this could be a native american leader wearing a hat? Something along the lines of these pictures:

Tamar is mentioned for B5, whether serious or not. Most of them dont believe it is her due to alphabetic order of civs, but in the meantime the interest in her being in the game did grow. So those who did vote Tamar for C5 are either hyping the idea or joking.

I realise that B5 is the picture people were originally suggesting Tamar for. I put Tamar here as a joke, not expecting anyone to tick it, but then a whole bunch of people did:confused:.

Putting a joke in a form usually ends up with most answers being the joke :D

I figure it's a Mongol, if only because we've seen the Genghis Khan namedropped alongside Montezuma a couple of times.

I'm still holding out hope it's from some underrepresented area (e.g., southeast Asia), but I wouldn't be upset with the other choices. Also, the lack of an exact match makes the named civs seem less likely - I expect we'd have found it by now if it were one of them.

Could it be a Mughal leader? I don't know, maybe a second choice for India, or something like that. Their founder, Babur, descended from the Mongols and wore lots of big hats and turbans. The same goes to Humayun.

I don't know their history, sorry if i'm saying something wrong.

Funnily enough, I've started seeing a man with an animal cap (I think it was brought up before but to me the enlarged version in the op makes ti appear more so to me). Still not 100% certain though.

South East Asian ruler (Myanmar, Lan Xang, Siam), I couldn't find any other area of the world where similar hats would be worn by rulers.

All depictions of Genghis and Kubilai and other khans also have very different hats.

Looks like an ottoman turban to me.

Which one?

No, this guy isn't Ottoman or Persian.

It's either Central Asian khan (though as I said before, for the love of God I can't find actual depictions of Mongol khans in such hat) or from South East Asia (where similar hats were worn by kings in Myanmar, Laos and Siam - but even these are imperfect).

Looks like this image will torture us for three months
