I don't often play as Spain, but I randomly have Isabella as leader.

I sent a Conquistador to wipe out a few barbarians and now it is giving me the option to settle a city. Is this for real?

Thank you. Wish Civipedia mentioned that.

well, under game info Civilopedia just speaks of its ability to "colonize overseas", but it's more specific in the "strategy" section:

The Conquistador is a multi-purpose unit that is strong both on land and at sea. Replacing the Knight, it is an exceptional scout on land with extra visibility. It also has the ability to found new cities, but only on a foreign continent that does not contain the Spanish capital. In the water, the Conquistador has the defensive embarkation promotion that allows it to defend itself against naval units. It also suffers no penalty when attacking cities, unlike the Knight.

on a sidenote: has anyone tested yet if venice can found a city with a gifted conquistador? i remember this option was heavily discussed before BNW release

Thanks - I see that now. I did speed read it and missed it totally.

I better give the game away tonight- I sure won't be winning with those thought processes.

I'm curious to see if Conquistadors gained from city-states will settle cities for Venice. That would be an amusing loophole.

I've attached a save where the possibility to find out exists. There is a militaristic civ to the west of Venice that will give a Conquistador. I probably won't play that way to find out, though.

I've built MoM, Gr.Light, Colossus and Hanging Gardens. There's 1 MoV in Venice and another one due next turn. Immortal level.

Also, as Spain you can't build any conquistadors if you are under -10 unhappy as you can settle cities with them.
