Can I turn the Wonder animations off?

When I start building some of the more advanced wonders, when they're completed the wonder animation / movie thing starts (well, the box comes up but the animation doesn't start) and the sound goes all jerky. As soon as the "ok" button appears, I click it, but it's kind of pointless because the game crashes to desktop within a minute or two of it happening.

Is there anyway of turning these animations off?

Open the Civ4.ini config file and change "nomovies" from 0 to 1.

I have the same problem as the initial poster above with the game working fine, but crashing when the wonder videos initiate. The instructions 'change the ini config file from 0 to 1' is tantalizingly vague to a non nerd like myself. Would someone please take the time to explain a: Where do I find this file? Is it in the Civ installation folder or is it in the My Games folder where the saves seem to be stored? B: What is the exact name of the file? Is it save.ini or ini.config or something else? I have found a file that had the line with the Wonder Movies, but when I changed that file from 0 to 1 as instructed, it did not stop them so I must have changed the wrong file. A little help here would go a long way!

This I can help you with.

The exact name of the file is as he said Civ4.ini - if anyone ever specifies something like this, look for the full stop. If he'd said 'civ4 ini' - (without the full stop) then you'd need to ask the exact file name.

Here's an easy way to find it - (provided you're winXP)

click start
Click search
click "all files and folders on the left"
type "civ4.ini" in the top box (file name)
click search

After a brief scout the file should appear in the box on the right.

right click on the file
click "open"

find where it says "nomovies" and change the 0 to 1.
