The questions are "Who were the Populists and what was their agenda? Who were the Progressives and what did they hope to achieve? Were either of these movements successful and to what degree?"

These need to be in a larger context for an essay that I have to write. You don't have to actually answer the questions for me, but it would be even more helpful if you did. This is kind of urgent as well:sad:

Aren't you just asking people to write your essay for you? Presumably you've had lessons, or been assigned texts to read, which tell you who the Populists and the Progressives were. Don't these contain the information that you need?

No, I'm not asking people to write my essay for me. I'm merely asking for help on how to put the question into a larger context in the introduction of the essay. I can find the information on my own, though it is a bit difficult for me.

I think that in introduction you should simply write contemporary situation, for example social situation, civil rights and so on. After it write goals and progress in both movements and in the end how succesfull they were. The most funny is that I have not idea what the populists/progressives are, so sorry :)

You might want to consider an opening that describes progressivism and populism as very general terms. The definition of each and the labeling of a person as either is subject to the one doing the defining and the labeling and whatever agenda that individual might have. Today the terms are about as accurate as labeling a politician as either liberal or conservative. It all depends upon what one expects the audience to want to hear. You might consider this rather cynical. Maybe it is.

lots of ways to do it. Your lucky you have such an interesting part of American history to write about. Basically, try and hook them together. It isn't a chance, that they co-existed (kinda)
