Can someone explain Worker/Training XP?

There are various buildings that give XP to units that spend their turn in a city and workers and arcane units get free XP wherever they are. It seems to decrease once they clear first level. I was just wondering if anyone could tell me the details and anything else that should be generally known. Like if workers get any extra XP for working, for example.

The exact formula is somewhere in the FF forum, but I know training (and worker XP, since its just training) is on diminishing returns.

Example (all numbers are made up):
Train rate: 0.5 xp per turn
Max: 10 XP

You'll gain 0.5 xp on the first turn, then 0.4 the next, then 0.3 then next, then less and less each turn until you reach 10 XP.

For those of you who know math, I imagine the formula is logarithmic. The x-axis is turns, the y-axis is experience. The higher xp you have, the more turns it takes to get another point.

I've flipped through a few pages on the FF forum. The closest discussion was of xp gains for arcane units, which frankly kind of scares me the way they talk about it. I'll keep looking, but that raised the question 'Are arcane units any good?'

Okay, found an explanation on page 12 of the FF forum.

And the effect on arcane units still looks scary. But the passive rate gain for other units makes sense. Do you guys find that it's worth the wait to let units sit and train? Also, I read somewhere that there's a promotion available to arcane units with sets of tier 3 spells (and one for all of them). Is there any way to earn those with early units late in a game, or is the idea just to expand massively and have a bunch of spells free from all the mana?

On a related note, there is a unique feature called the Bair of Lucuna. I asked before what it does and received no response.

One thing it does appear to do is provide mana, I think Dimensional, IF you can provide a route. The problem is only Level 6 units can enter the tile to build the road.

Can Workers get Level 6? I have a few stuck at Level 5.

I have that Bair of Lucuna, too. Does each unit have to be level 6, or can a worker be accompanied by a level 6+ unit to get in?

I have some other thoughts on the whole experience issue, having read the old FF threads on it which I'll be putting in the request thread.

Two things:

  1. It SHOULD autobuild a road beneath it. You just have to build a road up to it in order to connect it, if it's working correctly.
  2. If a unit can enter the tile, it is able to teleport. Can't remember the range... Either 10 or 20 tiles.

And yes, workers can get to level 6. It just takes a while. ;)

Okay I built a city next to the Bair of Lucuna and it did automatically get roads. My Hero of Foxford also managed to kill Orthus and is now merrily patrolling my empire (of three cities) from the Bair. Fun, fun.
