Can we do something against inflation??

Until now there is no Wonder/System/building/Great Person can put the inflation down. Only a event provide this function. So Should there any more controllable way can be provided to fight against inflation? Such Burn a Great Merchant to build Central Bank (Not just provide income but also decrease inflation) or 1st to find out Macroeconomic can do so??

I found that Inflation can be reduces with dramatic budget cuts. When I started some games with a huge army and selfdestructed all my inherited "heavy spearmen", not only the unit upkeep but also the inflation went down.

But aside from the event, I think you are right, there is no way for the player to fight inflation. But there is also no way to fight the civ modifiers, either. They are all part of the game balance if I understand things right?

No, inflation is just a thematic name for the mechanic that accounts for your growing economic base over the course of the game. You are not supposed to interact with it.
