That is, if the AI's sign up for an embargo against you is there any way of breaking it like making peace w/ a civ that has allied against you w/i the last 20 turns?
In my game I've been playing, if you sign peace with a nation you are at war with and has an embargo against you, their part of the embargo ends. However, the other civ will still have an embargo (I think).
But, if you wipe them off the earth and take their resources, there's no need to break an embargo.
If you're not at war with them and they sign an embargo against you the only thing you can do AFAIK is to wait it out 20 turns, or go to war with them and take their resourses like Ginger Ale said

That is not correct. When an embargo ends you can deal with both civs again, unless you are at war with one of them or when they have another embargo going. Also: making peace with a civ will not end a trade embargo, unless this embargo was part of a deal including a military alliance against you.
The ways to end the embargo are explained by sabo. But you can also get an MA with one of the tribes vs the other. The state of war between the two wil end the embargo as well.
I agree that it's strange that you can't bribe a civ out of a Trade Embargo. But a MPP is not AGAINST someone, but WITH someone. When Civ A and Civ B MPP they promise:
-to declare war on a civ that attacks one of them
-not to get MA's with a third civ against each other
Sadly Civ A and Civ B do NOT promise to keep the peace for 20 turns.
Say you attack Civ A. Civ B will then declare on you because of the MPP. Then later on you make peace with Civ A there is still a MPP. So Civ A will immediately declare on you when you decide to attack Civ B.
