Q's:

- How many turns do you have to wait (on Epic) to cancel them?
- Are there negative repurcussions to doing so?

Thanks

I don't think you have to wait any amount of turns. To do so, just go to the diplomacy screen and click "What deals do we have going on right now?" (or something along those lines).

Then click (or double-click) on "Open borders". The game will ask you if you're sure you want to cancel it.

There are negative reprocussions. There is a -1 rep hit for cancelling open borders.

Nope... Two cities with open borders for a long time will gain a +2 over time...

If your borders are closed, then you simply use the added bonus... Not to mention if you trade, you'll always have open borders... (anything / turn)

Nope... Never happened to me...

The one where it reads "our close borders spark tention" is referring to your borders are touching each other... This has nothing to do with open / closed borders...

Even during open border you'll get this negitive remark if you aren't liked enough... Even if you are...

If you have a hostile past, this can turn up to -3...

Just a slightly irrelevant question.. Can one cancel resource trading?? I traded copper for dye and now I want to cancel but couldn't.. Just a message popping up saying that I could not cancel the deal at the moment..

You have to wait a little bit. It would be nice if they told you exactly how long you need to wait though. I'm guessing it's something like 10 turns.

Hmm.. Darn.. Apparently I got copper and I got Statue of Liberty to finish.. But it ain't registering my copper being there as it took 24 turns instead of 12.. :(

Yea the game lets you trade away your resources even if you only have one of them. Kind of a step backwards to me, since in Civ3 you would automatically reserve one for your own use. That might be why you couldn't take advantage of it, because it was locked up in a trade.

I'm pretty sure civ3 let you trade away your only resource. AI's never did this though.
