This one is a new one for me. Last night my game worked fine, but today I get an error message when loading the game.
"Unable to load texture [LoadingBaseGame.dds]"
Game is the Apple Store version (Not Steam)
OS is 10.10.2
Mac Pro (Early 2008)
2 x 2.8 GHz Quad-Core Intel Xeon
20 gigs of memory
Graphics: ATI Radeon HD 5770 1024 mb (@ one year old)
Earlier today I had a warning from Drive Genius 4 that the following files (user > library > preferences) were corrupt:
com.signsigndevices.elater.plist
com.Graphicduty-Airtight.plist
I have no idea what they were, so I removed them and put on my desktop temporarily. I then restarted and thought they would rebuild automatically--but they did not. So I left them on the desktop all day. I tried to launch Civ V BNW a few minutes ago and I got that error message. So I put those plist files back where they belonged and I still get the same message. The game originally comes up to the splash screen, and when I click to play game and it starts to load, I get the error.
As a note--at first I force quit. But then I wanted to see what would happen if I tried to continue. So I did that, and after that I got a message about the forest texture not loading, and then another texture of some kind not loading, and I force quit it again.
Unfortunately, I had cloned my main drive to my secondary drive this morning, so I am having the same problem on the second drive. If my second drive would have been okay, I just would have re-cloned that back to my first drive as the new clone was only a half day old. [note: I back up my main drive every week via SuperDuper to my second drive as a clone]
I do not think it is a video card issue as Civilization BE loads just fine, as well as my movies in iTunes.
Is it possible there there is a Civ V preference file that went bad? If so, which ones should I be looking at?
Or is there a way for me to reinstall the Apple Store version (and all the expansions I have [I have them all])?
I appreciate any help.
