HI everyone. I have joined here for quite some time and really learned a lot from reading the amazing threads you guys have posted.

Now I play in BTS, often on emperor / immortal, continent map. Provided the starting location is not two crappy, I usually have no problems in winning the game with domination. But I cannot win the game early, and always end the games pouring tanks with settlers to the other continent, raze/build cities to get enough land.
In my last game(epic, emperor) I get Qin Shihuang, China. (I always leave the leader choice random and play with whatever civ the map generator gives me.) As the chinese UU is even more powerful with the protective trait, I decided to get machinery early. On my continent Caesar and Mansa. There are two corns and 3 plain hills in the BFC of my capital and lot of forest nearby so I managed to chop/build GW, Pyramid and Oracle (get MC). As I have build wonders I don't expand well and just get 3 cities, two in decent location, one just to hook up the iron. Got the machinery at around 700 BC, I even burned a GE to speed it up as Caesar had iron and were building up his UU army that I would never stand a chance against without CKN. Caesar declared war on me when just build/whip/chop 5 CKN in capital and two in each other cities. This is a long war and that in fact I never stopped it untill I finally wiped him out in about 1500 AD.. I settled 8 GG early as Caesar suicided so many units to my capital I can build 17xp CKNs, that is drill IV, and still one more promotion! Those GGs also helped research greatly as I was running repsentation. During the long war I also declared war on Mansa and captured his three with holy cities with those heavily promoted CKNs and vassalized him right after he researched feud and I stealed it. Won the liberalism race, got astronomy. Got the movement bonus. But I just cannot attack the other continent because: 1) I have no great coast cities to build enough ships early, 2) Without me harrassing them they teched relatively well and I don't think even my 100+xp CKNs could do anything to their musk with CG2. So I just build/tech/wait untill I builded out about 100 tanks and 15 settlers and landed from both side of the other continent and won after about 15 turns. But, it was 1901 AD already!!
All my games looks more or less the same way. I think maybe there is something wrong with my early decisions that eventually slow me down in the mid / late game. But I do feel I need some suggestions how and when to burn the war to the other continent. IMO as the cavs have been delayed and you have to get the expensive astronomy with liberalism, there is really nothing I can do but wait untill tanks.

Hmm.... I'm not a domination guy, but it sounds like you might be dragging your economy down a little bit too much with wars on your own continent. Maybe wage earlier wars (axe rush/swords) to take a few core, good cities, make peace, then go for astronomy to take out 1 AI on the other continent. You can always finish off the weakened AI's on your continent later instead of going until the 1500's to finish an AI all the way.

You're bringing tanks to sweep across the whole continent, but maybe getting some calvaries to take 1 or 2 AI's on the other continent means you can build units over there instead of just from your mainland. Maybe relaxing a little bit on your own continent will lead to faster astronomy therefore an easier time to start your conquest before having to rely on 1 massive fleet.

On Immortal, domination on a continent map with tanks in the final stage is pretty standard, unless you play marathon speed which gives you more time to move your units.
It depends on quantity and quality of the AIs on your initial continent and on the tech speed of the other continent, if you are stuck with one or 2 warmongers who tech slowly then you usually need more turns.
