Mind if I jump in here, too, with my own problem getting the game to start?
I recently had to lobotomize my notebook (restore the hard disk to factory-issue condition) to cure an insane pop-up problem. (It really couldn't be cured any other way - our IS expert at work spent two days trying to fix it.) Reloading everything on it - including Civ II, of course, and now Civ II won't work! (Travesty! Like what is the point of even having a computer then?)
Here are details of my own problem: operating under Windows 2000P, Civ II classic. I get the opening message that the CD isn't in the drive (not needed, hit "Okay"), it starts to go to the next screen, and I get the error: "Civ2 caused a Stack Fault in module IR41.dll at 0002:019D. Choose close. Civ2 will close."
(Is it really a "choice" to close, when that is my only option?)
I've already tried reloading the game and continued to receive the same error. Any assistance from those more tech-savvy is appreciated.
