Hey guys
I just reinstalled Windows 7 and now I've found myself unable to play Civ 5. It won't start. Equally worrisome is the fact that it won't create the My Games folder where I can edit the usersettings ini file. What can i do to get Civ5 to install its lovely usersettings.ini?

What error do the game shows?

Have you tried reinstalling Steam so it reinstall Civ5? A side effect or reinstalling windows is that you usually have to reinstall everything, since most of the paths are registry-based and a reinstall clean it.

I have the same problem.. and renaming the folder didn't help. When I launch the game, I get no error message. Nothing happens. There is also no trace of the game in my documents folder after downloading from Steam. I tried reinstalling twice and still get the same result.... any help would be appreciated

Do you have Admin rights? Perhaps the game tried to create it own folder inside Mygames but was refused the right to do so by Windows.

Yes, I have admin rights and I have it set so any program can do what it wants without asking for my permission first. It still takes the regular time to download even though I can't find what it's doing or where it's putting anything. It only takes around a second to uninstall, though

Edit: Nevermind, There was a problem with directx :P Fixed now
