First, I must warn you that I'm completely new to the GOTM. I have Vanilla Civ4 on a Mac.
My system details are:
Build Version: 1.6.1.1841 (45604)
Build Date: Jun 7 2006
Mod Name: Mods\HOF-Mac-1.74.002\

I also installed BlueMarble today if that matters.

Unfortunately, when I try to load the gotm25 save files (I have tried both adventurer and challenger saves), it restarts the game if I hadn't already loaded HOF, loads the map, gives me a message saying "The save file you have selected is protected to ensure that the assets in your mod folder have not been changed" and then crashes. Is this message unusual? I just installed HOF today.

Edit: I solved the interface problem by removing my customassets folder. But the GOTM still won't load.

Y'all have any idea what's going on?

Are you able to load the HOF mod via load Civ 4, load the mod? Then can you successfully start a generic new game? If yes to both, then can you get the GOTM to run if you load the mod first (as opposed to a double click on the start save)?

As for the interface problem:
If I select Lock Modified Assets(LMA) when creating a game, I get no interface. If i exit to the main menu, and create or load another game, there is no interface regardless of whether or not LMA is checked. If I exit to desktop, reopen CIV, and create a game without LMA, the interface is back. This is the same in both Vanilla and HOF.

da_Vinci:
I can load HOF, I can create a new game, save, open, etc. With the exception of the lock modified assets bug (could they be related?) it runs fine. However, I cannot get the GOTM to load even by loading HOF first. It crashes in exactly the same way.

Since I am a PC user, can't give you any mac-specific advice ... have you tried re-downloading the save in case it did not download cleanly the first time? Given that you can run a random game in the HOF mod just fine, seems like something about that save might be off.

Maybe you are the first mac player to try out this GOTM? Maybe you should post this in the mac forum as well, and ask who else has tried GOTM 25 (since there is not a lot of time to complete it left).

Good luck!

Hi :)

The best place to find fast answers to Mac-specific problems is in the Mac Civ4 forum. However, this one's easy ...

Build Version: 1.6.1.1841 (45604)

The GOTM 25 release page says:

This game must be played with version 1.74 of Civilization IV.

There's also a clue in the name of the HOF Mod - HOF-Mac-1.74.002. It's specific to Civ4 version 1.74.

I recommend you download the version 1.74 updater, run it and try again. One word of warning - the Aspyr updaters have had problems since the release of Mac OS X 10.5 - Leopard. If you are running Leopard you have to copy the installer to your desktop and run it from there. You can't run it from within the mounted disk image.
