Can't Reinstall Civ

Okay, I have a problem. I was playing my first game as rome, but when I built the sistine chapel, the game crashed. I decided to reinstall civ, but now I am trying to install civ but when In put the disk in nothing happens. A tab saying Sid meier's civilizaton 4 appears at the bottonm of my computer, but I can't maximize it.

And you have completely removed all traces off your computer? I assume the game is obviously uninstalled, any folders you may have moved are gone, and the game folder (should be empty) is gone, too?

Yes, I uninstalled everything.

Not really, just something you need to do now and then when using a Microsoft OS.

C: is your hard drive, he's telling you to format it. (Erase everything apart from the system files, I think there's a quick way to do it, i just don't remember how.)

run
type msconfig
launch system restore
restore to before insall

Have you tried restarting your computer?

IIRC on the firaxis site there is a step by step on uninbstalling civ 4 and removing all the odd bits left behind. It is realted to the graphics card stuff.
