Captured Wonders

When you have captured cities with Wonders already built, are the effects lost?
The effects remain, but the culture the wonders produce do not, so they are "lost".

Some wonders give instant benefits, however, like the population increase from the Hanging Gardens. This is sort of lost, because you didn't built it yourself. The free monuments from Stonehenge remains too (though not if you capture it after Astronomy, which itself obsoletes monuments -- or was it SciMethod? I forget)

SciMethod obsoletes so much stuff I usually try and research it as late as possible. But even that's not possible because I can't let all the other Civs get airships before me!

I can't let the other civs get a free GS and a free GS before me!

I agree, the techs following Scientific Method make Scientific Method an interesting choice in late game victories.

I usually aim for the Scientific Method path because there are so many good wonders that are allowed!
Scientific Method ↣ Physics ↣ Electricity ↣ Radio ↣ Mass Media
