Careful: Your child is probably member of a hate group

Yeah, and the list from the Calgary Police mirrors the signs that aren't really signs for anything other than puberty.
There are historical reasons to be cautious about hate groups in this region, though. The 1980s was when Jim Keegstra's trial happened, and the news was full of articles about him, Ernst Zundel, and Terry Long and his Aryan Nations group out at Caroline (a town in my province).

The Calgary police have backed down somewhat in their list as regards rock music. But any kid who goes around uttering slurs, sporting Nazi clothing, symbols, etc., or talks about any ethnic minority or other minority as less than human is definitely engaging in hate speech and should be considered at risk for getting involved in a hate group.

Yeah, and I don't have a problem with these signs, I have a problem with those that I marked in bold, as they're not at all specific to anything.

Something that can be a sign for literally anything, is a meaningless sign.

That is not true and I think this displays a fundamental misunderstanding of what a 'sign' is. It is not a judgement or a claim. It is a potential indicator of an undesirable determination. If your child suddenly possesses no interest in school, this is not cause for the parent going, "Welp, guess my kid's a Nazi." It is cause for the parent going, "Hm, wonder what's with that? Need to keep an eye out for anything else that might answer why this is happening."

If your child starts to check off more and more of that list and you start seeing them get involved with hate group-related material, then you know there's something to worry about.

The webpage even explicitly says that these signs aren't judgements or claims. They are just that: signs. Consider them and keep an eye out for anything amiss. Your heightened vigilance, if worse comes to worst, may help the authorities prevent a hate crime in the future.

It would be better if the signs were categorized by priority with a points system or designated 'major' signs or 'minor' signs. Three of the minor signs could be just normal teenager stuff. Three of the major signs, then if that kid isn't in a hate group he sure needs to be smacked upside the head and straightened out, as if he were in one.

I see that there is now a disclaimer on the web page with the article, basically saying that some of these behaviours are normal in adolescents (which is a well established fact). Just like some of us have been pointing out (me included). :p

Interesting...

They put the disclaimer up after getting a lot of complaints about some items on the list.
