2109: The World is On Fire​

January 1st, 2109 - December 31st, 2109

US States: Mendel is Eye of God Leader

After the surprising capture of former President Mendel, the government has stated that Mendel is indeed the Eye of God leader, as well as the Crimson Patriots. Although documents found in the White House show Mendel was the leader of the EoG, no evidence has pointed him to control over the Crimson Patriots. Also, a Crimson Patriot spokesperson states that they have a different leader. Reports of Mendel interrogation has revealed naught, but regardless, the Counter Terrorist Unit of the Army, with CA support, has raided several Eye of god hideouts, most of which were either abandoned, or recruitment offices. There was one major find, it seems the Eye of God had one abandoned missile launch pad as a base, whether it was going to be used or not is still under investigation. There have been waves of civil disorder in the Midwest and Southwestern states, either as pro-Mendel rallies or Eye of God insurgencies. Also, the US has begun reconstruction of the Golden Gate Bridge and several other areas which were struck by the EoG.

Surge of Terrorism in Canada

Small groups of Crimson Patriots have slowly entered Canada, says Interpol, and this easily explains what has happened in the past few months. Several suicide bombers around the country, which have caused 34 casualties, have sparked concern on Canada's security. A gunfight in Toronto inside the CN Tower was the most dramatic attack, Crimson Patriots stormed the building, killing 12 tourists and 3 staff. Then, they proceeded to use sniper rifles to kill an additional 18 people, before Toronto law enforcement arrived. They soon killed 4 of the 7 CPs, before one of the remaining CPs use a recoilless and destroyed two police cars. Finally, part of the Sky Pod blew up, killing the CPs and 12 police officers down below. This has sparked Canada's request for US aid.

Hispanic Union Helps US

The US has found an unexpected ally, the Hispanic union, in the war against the EoG. The Hispanic Union has turned over documents from captured drug dealers, some of which were EoG members. The documents include several members of the EoG and their personal information, as well as several improvised explosives created by the EoG.


Wildfires in the Savanna

In Africa, a particularly dry year has caused several wildfires in the savanna. The cause is most likely a tribe which set off the fire by accident, but regardless the fires have caused major problems. African fire departments had to use mere buckets loaded onto trucks, as fire trucks are reserved for developed areas. The wildfires continue to go towards populated areas, so evacuation is likely. At least 100 people have perished in the flames, and 6,000 evacuated, mostly tribes.

A breakthrough by the combined efforts of the WWRC has yielded advanced radar, which can now detect not only stealth bombers, but also has double the range of radar.

Special Section: Second Napoleonic Wars

FRANCE-SPAIN/PORTUGAL FRONT

Fighting in the mountains has taken its toll on both sides, as neither side could call in artillery, armored, or air support, due to problematic weather. Mortar fire has been continuous, and both sides have dug in. French paratroopers have landed on the Spanish side of the mountains, but they have been quickly captured or killed. Portugal has advanced towards Bordeaux, slowly, but there has been little resistance.

US BEACHHEAD

Fighting has been fierce, as the US calls in more air support via carriers. Fighters have decimated waves of French infantry, but AA batteries have posed problems. US ground forces have begun sweeping towards Paris, starting with small hamlets and villages. The US have tried not to damage any buildings, but complications have set in where tanks have hidden behind buildings and snipers have hidden in places only accessible by air or tank support. The French navy has been hiding in an unknown location.

FRENCH-GERMAN FRONT

France has begun a flanking movement on the Germans, nearly cutting off support. It started with masses of infantry, followed by tanks. German supply lines were cut,and the cut off forces are now scattered over the France, for better or worse, since each group still has communication with eachother. Luxemborgia has begun operations in Northern France, where French defenses are although hard to penetrate, undermanned.

GERMAN-BALTIC FRONT

Denmark has begun to paratroop forces over northern Germany to moderate effect, as they continuously sabotage industry and infrastructure. Meanwhile, Scandinavia has sent troops on an amphibious assault in eastern Germany, where the Scandinavians are now digging positions. Scandinavia is also fortifying Denmark against German attacks.

ITALIAN FRONT

Ah yes, the deadlock that is Italy. The CA and Italians have successfully pushed off France from Sicily, but now France has had time to fortify Corsica and the French-Italian border. The EEC has had moderate success and has begun the march to Rome, slowly, but surely, some military experts predict they will reach Rome by 2011, or even earlier. The AHSR isn't exactly helping either, it agreed to a cease-fire until 2010, when the AHSR will decide whether or not to continue the fight.
