Istanbul Press Conference

Half a century of neglect from the occupying force. Highways sheared in the big earthquake of 2057 did not recieve any repair more than some earth-fill. All the digitized expressways and high-speed trains of 2020's slowly disappeared into the sands of time and we could do nothing. The subways were never contaminated from the chemical residue of the weapons the invading army used.

As a citizen of a country relentlessly inviting foreign investors, I am ashamed everytime a Japanese businessman gets out of the airport, and sees our broken roads. If we want the world to take us as a serious center of business, this situation must be remedied.

Starting from this year, rebuilding our transportation networks is a priority. First and foremost, our spending will go into repair and proper maintenance of existing infrastructure. Soon after, we will start spreading top of the line road and rail networks to cover our country, and link all major cities.

Our energy network is a bit better, thankfully Russians used it to provide electricity to their military industry. But it needs to be redistributed, and eventually improved, to sustain our growing economy.

Mersin press conference

Our country has suffered greatly during 50 years of occupation. Our once prosperous people was subjected to poverty and starvation. Finally, after twelve years of independence, our economy started to grow, and once again Turkey can propel itself to the level of modern civilizations.

Such development requires a strong economy. Strong economy needs flow of money and commodities. Over the past year our Ministry of Foreign Affairs worked day and night to secure several trade treaties with countries around the world. Although their work is slowly coming to fruition, although now our citizens can purchase goods from all over the world, and although we are far better than a decade ago; nothing short of perfection is good enough for our country. Our fledgling economy, infrastructure and inexperienced burocracy is overwhelmed by the number of foreign investors.

Many people think by now our economy is vibrant enough to reopen Istanbul Stock Exchange. Today, I invited you here to announce that we will NOT reopen the Stock Exchange. <pauses to give time for gasps and "w.t.f."s>

Instead, we will start building the Trade Nexus here, east of your beautiful city. It will be an unprecedented complex for world trade. It will have customs offices, not with the purpose of taxing the trade with the rest of the world, but streamlining it. It will have a new stock exchange not limited to Turkey, but trading the stocks of companies from all over the world. There will be countless offices, and workplace facilities for all the businessmen. It will be like a city in itself, functionally akin to America's World Trade Center and Wall Street combined, and more.

OOC: guys, this is a politician exaggerating his new project, don't let it mislead you into thinking I'll build an entire Manhattan from scratch. Carmen, I suppose this will classify as wonder. Perhaps we can discuss what game effect it gives later (next week) over PM, this turn I'll just pay its 2 ep. I have almost filled my quota of NESing this week.

Diyarbakir Press Conference

This region was damaged during the wars of 2034 and 2084. But it wasn't a very developed part of the world before that either. Within the oncoming projects, this will all change, and the East will not be forgotten. First, old infrastructure will be repaired, then completed to suit the needs of the population. The caucasus region will also be linked to expressway and maglev rail networks that will be built in the rest of the country.

21th century was not a good one for any of us. During the Russian occupation, and then war of independence, times have been confused. Some of your basic rights may have been stepped on a few times. But those times are behind us now. Laws for the absolute equality of citizens of this country are already in place. Our deputies are finalizing the details of the new anti-discrimination laws as we speak. You will see things improve very quickly.

According to the census of 2090, 78% of our population is Turkish, 22% is various minorities. Do you know what that means? Absolutely nothing! We are all citizens of this country.

I did not come here to talk to Kurds. I came here to talk to my fellow countrymen, with whom I expect to walk towards prosperity and modernization. For this purpose I came to not only talk, but also listen to your problems and complaints, our valued citizens. Shortly after press questions, we will invite delegates from every town in the region, and hear any issue that they feel to be deserving the government's attention.

Yerevan Press Conference

(repeat something similar to Diyarbakir, replace Kurds with Armenians)

Tblisi Press Conference

(repeat something similar to Diyarbakir, replace Kurds with Georgians)

oh boy! I had some more in mind but this was exhaustingly long. The rest will be in 2097 I suppose.

For seemingly unknown reasons, France has invaded Luxemborgia! In the first days of invasion, many targets were bombed or destroyed. This includes military bases, Amsterdam, and Brussels. Tanks soon followed, as infantry 'swept up'. No comments has been made from the French government, but the EU has condemn this act and have removed France from the EU as a result.

Gains/Losses:

France-

-50,000 infantry (Militia)
-100 tanks
-20 fighters
-10 helicopters
-1 bomber
+Confidence

Luxemborgia-

-2 fighters
+Loyalty
+2,000 Irregulars ((Trained) WW3 Veterans)

United Kingdom invades Ireland!

Another act of invasion, the UK has invaded Ireland in an unknown act, but possibly the 'terrorist attack' which killed 3 civilians and a policeman in London. Irish forces were quickly mobilized and the Irish Air Force amazingly succeeded in not losing a single fighter wile facing over 1,000 RAF ones. This might be because they were not located in their air base when it was bombed. NATO has officially kicked out the UK in a statement: 'We won't tolerate NATO members invading other members.' In other new, France almost did the same for Luxemborgia. France has been kicked out of the EU and NATO.

Losses/Gains:

UK-

-60,000 infantry (Militia)
-100 tanks
-5 fighters
-25 helicopters
+Loyalty

Ireland-

Turkey: The New Middle East Leader?

The new Trade Nexus was announced, and has begun construction. New efforts into helping minorities have been implemented, as have improving infrastructure. As a result, Turkey has attracted some investors, notably IBM which had suspended trade with all previously Novayan occupied countries.

Turkey Gains:

+Loyalty
+Confidence
+Happiness
+Trade Nexus Construction
+1 EP for THIS TURN ONLY

China: New Way Forward?

Democracy has come to China. Dictator Hu Kwan Do has become President Hu Kwan Do after revealing his belief in creating a new democracy, one not in place since forever... (The Republic of 1912 doesn't count. :p) Anyways, a majority of voters voted for him, at an astonishing 97%. The last 3% went to a WW3 general, which was recently involved in a corruption scandal. :p
Anyways, China also led a crackdown on the Revolutionaries. However, terrorist attacks have been made, including the bombing of the USA's and French embassies, the bombing of Shanghai University, and car bombs around various cities. In total, over 200 people died. This has led to further resistance to the Revolutionaries. Shanghai security was tightened up, preventing the bombing of the new skyscraper. The Chinese Army managed to take back everything outside of the Hong Kong invasion, and clear up pockets of Resistance. However, the west remains strong, almost too strong to crack. Taiwan is also resistant since they joined the Revolutionaries in 2094.

Losses/Gains:

Free China-
-300,000 infantry (Untrained)
-100 tanks
-20 fighters
+Confidence
+2,000 Irregulars ((Trained) Chinese Liberation Army)
+1,000 Revolutionaries ((Untrained) Defectors)

Chinese Revolutionaries-

-500,000 infantry
-150 tanks
-Loyalty
-Confidence

The Ta Invasion!

The Ta have entered Earth's orbit, and are heading to an unknown destination. NASA saw this in several telescopes. This has caused panic in many 'advanced' nations, including Russia. OOC: Iggy, it takes TIME to get to Earth from your position. :p
Anyways, next year (Next Turn), the Ta shall arrive, and we won't know what they will do... WWN will keep you posted!

Zera starts Kravenial Park!

Kravenial Park is a monument to Archimonde's father, Kraven. he builds this park with a giant statue of his father in the middle. This is a literally cut out area of their home planet, making it comfortable for colonists in space. It will be a 1,322 by 1,322 square feet and the park will be cut out from a lush grassland in the outskirts of the Zera border. It is unknown which year it will be completed.

Wouldn't it have been better to just say nothing?

Perhaps 'Several unknown extraterrestrial craft have been spotted in high orbit, or something.

I'd think I'd have the technology to traverse a solar system in a turn (my mothership is the only large ship in the scouting force, and was in the Galilean moons last turn).

This my the first time in a NES using this economy&size system.

What is the benefit of invading a country? It doesn't increase your economy level. It may increase your size (which is bad). You lose troops, and look bad in the international arena. From the update, the only benefit I can see is +1Loyalty.

@Carmen- I know! I don't have FTL. But I have a significant percentage of Light Speed Capability. And that's easily enough to cross the solar system.

Are the UU's just different, or more powerful, than regulars?

translation

Does the UUs require advantage and disadvantage, or can it just have some advantage over the regular unit?

It's kinda like England vs Holand. Holand was strong, but England was bigger. Bigger nations can boss around other nations, you get more pop, you can use more size to increase eco, ect.

I know the real life reasons. I am asking within the NES framework. I don't see any population or economy benefits to UK and France in the Update. Is it only a boost in national pride and eliminating an opponent?

To UK
From USA

You should be lucky the UN hasn't kicked you out, next time you should gain the approval of world nations before launching invasions.

To France
From USA

While we haven't been as close as Britain and us, but still we are disappointed in your actions and applaud NATO and EU in their actions of kicking both of you out. We would like an explanation for your actions before considering you back in NATO.

To EU
From USA

We applaud you in your prompt action for dealing with renegade nations that hold no responsibilities for others.

To NATO
From USA

We will miss the leaving of several of our major powers and wish them a speedy return. But before we accept them back onto NATO we must receive a good reason as to why they did what they did.

To Russia
From USA

We have recieved word that there is another missle in our lands, luckily for you it hasn't exploded, but the fact that you didn't tell us earlier still makes us upset at you, so tell us where it is so we can get rid of it! Or we will find out by force.
