Catching the city overflow bug

Unfortunatly no. I expected Al Quds to be the culprit, but the symptoms where showing to late. I'll try it again.

Thanks anyway!

I have good news and I have bad news. The good news I got the bug again and this time I have enough autosaves. Persia's Angora is the overflowing city. The last time I saw Angora overflowing was in turn 88. So I loaded turn 84.
And here comes the bad news it does not happen. In 84 the Persians just spawned. In the next turns Angora will flip to Persia.
I don't know if it's even possibly to get a reproducable savegame, because in these 4 turns nothing special happend around Angora.

But that means it is at least possible to get the bug from that save, even though it is random. That in itself can help finding the reason.

It can't reproduce. I noticed the bug in Marrakus again. However, the city stucked, and produces only gold and culture. Surprisingly Moors didn't produce beakers, so despite the bug the game is still normal.

Hey Leoreth,

just wanted to know if you still need saves concering this bug? If yes I can test and create some new.

Yeah, I haven't gotten anything closer to fixing the bug.

At last it happened in one of MY cities in the game...
The overflow progresses like this:
*At first you see some overflow bonuses from corporations at the production the food, etc. You can see the bonus, but it doesn't apply (if you get the cursor over the production bar you will see something like "+13123123123% from corps", but the output value will still be normal)
*At some turn the bonus will apply thus creating overflow in the city valuses.
*You gain super search, super food, super production, like becoming an alien race that can dominate the world :mwaha:

Note 1: The overflow in corp bonus hapenned after I changed the working tiles of the city.
Note 2: My computer is too old, it has 2GB RAM and Intel Pendium IV, if that is usefull info.

That sounds super useful, I'll give it a look as soon as I can, thanks!

That Hermosillo is indeed crazy lol

It seems that this overflow bug has something to do with the research beaker as well.

With 100% research rate, I'm staying at Nationalism (1) while in the slider, the tech rate is shown minus, very negative.
When I adjusted to 0% research, the tech rate is shown very positive, but it's like Nationalism (2348)

If the bug doesn't reproduce please post a saved game form the year 1856AD. In my computer it reproduces every time...:(

That's a good sign, I doubt it is machine dependent.

I know that it is a difficult bug. Can you heal the consequences? I can't play the 1700AD scenario due to that bug. Super indepedents, so the tech leader cost doens't apply, I face infantry in 1870s and space race to Alpha Centauri in 1930s. Colombians CTD often, there are tiles that I "should not see" else I CTD. If you can't or don't have time to fix it, can you give it a message when it appers, something like "City overflow bug, reload the previous turn :(". At least I would be able to play :mischief:.

The only reason I bother you about that is that I can't play, unfortunately :(.

It's not as much the difficulty but the tediousness of tracking this down. It's a lot of trial and error and at the moment I hardly have the time to visit this forum.

My hard disk is almost full. May this be a problem?

I play this mod every single day and mostly stick to the 1700ad scenario and have never encountered this bug. I also have a solid and recent computer with plenty of room, ram, etc.

Despite this, I was able to reproduce it in Hermosillo using citis save every single time.

No, I'm also fairly sure that I will be able to reproduce it.

This is still the first thing on my to do list if anyone's wondering.

As I wrote about on the Omg thread (bottom of page 133) I experienced this bug quite dramatically. Strangely enough, It occurred in Angora. I don't have the initial save (annoyingly). I started an Ethiopia game when I got this annoying bug where save games failed to compress (meaning you also couldn't open them again as it would try to decompress them and give up). I started again, expecting a bug-free game. Whatever caused this bug occurred prior to 295BC. a few turns before I spawned, I was informed that I had failed the Found Christianity UHV. What happened from then onwards, you can see in my post on the other thread...

I've uploaded the earliest save I could get my hands on (295BC) and my latest save (610AD). I think the Byzantine spawn might have killed the bug, cos Byzantium's indie successor in Angora didn't capitalize on any resource burst, indie tech didn't advance and Angora's pop dropped by about 20 points.

Thank you!

(I'm currently still unable to develop but this is the first thing I'll work on when I have DoC and a C++ compiler again.)

Did you built the dll in windows 7 or in a vm? Is it possible that a dll made in windows 7 isn't fully compatible with XP?
