Cate Blanchett=Bob Dylan?

i still plan on seeing it, it just confuses me as to why they would do the 7 different actors. my guess is to draw in the art school kids

either way, why wont you see it?

Hm. I don't see why a woman cannot play a man.

In ancient Greece, men played women.

But I guess it is surprising because there could be plenty of men able and willing to play Dylan...

She'll portray a specific aspect of Dylan's personality, embodied by an androgynous singer-songwriter character named Jude, according to Killer Films, the movie's production company.

If any actress can pull it off, it is Cate Blanchett. She's the best actress around today.

Now, it's quite obvious that it is meant to attract attention. There are plenty of availible male actors who could easily play Bob Dylan. Would this thread, or any of the publicity surrounding this story exist if it had been "male actor to play Dylan?"

Bob Dylan is considered an "historical figure" now? He's just a rock singer/songwriter, he's not Ghandi or Bismarck.

i consider beethoven historic, and eventually we will look at dylan the same way we see lord byron and many other great poets

hes a culturally historic figure, there

Unfortunately the site has moved on, so the OP's link is no longer terribly useful. Seems a strange choice to me, but I can't say I've got a big problem with it.

VRWCAgent, while you may not personally like Dylan (I am not to fond of him myself), surely you will agree that he has left a mark as a singer/songwriter.

Don't let your subjective view of quality clog your vision. Both you and I can agree that he has had significant influence on contemporary music. It's important to keep in mind the difference between objective and subjective quality.

Well no, I don't deny his impact on contempory music. But "historical figure" is something that can't really be judged, in my opinion, by contemporaries. It will take the test of time (and I don't mean the Civ II release!)

Will he be well known and highly regarded in his field in 200 years? 400 years? Maybe, maybe not, but for now I would just say he's just a singer/songwriter.

oh, ok

i thought you meant he was unimportant and made no impact on anyone
