Caveman 2 Cosmos (ideas/discussions thread)

Civ 7 article...

  • Civilization 7 shouldn't force a release tied to a special occasion; fans are eager for the next installment regardless of timing.
  • Civilization 6 celebrated a big anniversary for the series, but Civ 7 missed the latest window, and aiming for the next one would take a long time.
  • The wait for Civ 7 has been too long to postpone a potential earlier release for the sake of coinciding with another anniversary.
Civilization 6 marked an important milestone for the series, but Civilization 7 is not in a position to replicate that momentous occasion. Of course, Civilization fans will have reason to rejoice once Civilization 7 comes out, no matter when it happens. Even so, it would be best for the developers not to overthink the occasion and let development continue naturally. Trying to force Civilization 7's release into a specific special occasion could lead to far more problems than the game would face otherwise. Instead, there are far better ways to handle the game's eventual release date.

There's fair reason to believe that Civilization 7 could be better than ever, because the series never seems to stop growing. Civilization 6 reworked huge swaths of the game, with the new district system revolutionizing the way that strategy worked, forcing players to think further ahead when planning their cities. Likewise, the game also featured an expanded roster of leaders and civilizations, opening more routes for players to devise new strategies. It seems likely that Civilization 7 will shake up the game once more in its own way. With any hope, Civilization 7 will be bigger and better than any of its predecessors, with or without DLC.

Civilization 6 Celebrated Civilization's 25th Anniversary

Civilization 6 is more than one of the best games developed by Firaxis; it actually marked a significant event for the series. Civilization 6's release date came shortly after the 25th anniversary of the release of the original Civilization. This turned out to be one of the best ways to celebrate the quarter-century of the franchise's existence. Civilization 6's ambitious aim may have taken some time to get used to for players that were familiar with Civilization 5's approach, but it showed how much the series had grown. With that in mind, its release date turned out to be a brilliant decision.

Civilization's Next Big Anniversary Isn't For Two More Years

Despite Civilization 6's meaningful release date, Civilization 7 shouldn't try to repeat that magic. Civilization 7 needs a reveal soon due to how long fans have been waiting for it, and there's no similar milestone in sight. The 30th anniversary of Civilization passed in 2021, so there's no chance of celebrating that occasion with a new game. The 35th anniversary will be in 2026, but by that point it will have been ten years since Civilization 6's release. Even taking Civilization 6's impressive amount of DLC into account, that is a remarkably long wait between sequels, and could hurt Civilization 7 as a result.

Civilization 7 Doesn't Need a Milestone For Its Release Date

Civilization 7 can't simply keep fans waiting for years and years for a release date. Right now, Civilization 7 risks imitating Elder Scrolls 6's issues by having far too long a wait for the latest installment. True, Civilization 6 is a game that fans can keep playing for years thanks to every playthrough being different, but ten years is still a long wait for a sequel. It would be better if anniversary plans were not taken into account for the game's release date. The fans' long wait for Civilization 7 should not be extended solely for the sake of a milestone.

After only DLC releases since Civilization 6, it's about time for the next game in the series to finally make its debut. Even announcing an early access period for Civilization 7 would be enough to stir hype for the game once more. Waiting for the 35th anniversary to come around in order to release Civilization 7 is too much of a risk, since it will lead to such a long gap between games. While the developers do need to fully test Civilization 7 before release, they shouldn't hold off said release longer than necessary.

Sid Meier's Civilization 6

Civilization 6 is the sixth mainline entry in the Sid Meier's franchise and sees tons of upgrades to the entertaining and engaging 4x Strategy release. This installment features updated graphics, new game modes, and tons of leaders for players to choose from.

My Civilization continues to discover Technologies and builds some buildings and even some Wonders but My Economy is barely breathing and my Units have been on Strike for Several Turns. In one of my past Space Scenario Games, I had Runaway Gold. In this Game, I have so poorly managed my Finances that it makes me want to Cry. How do I find a Happy Medium that requires some effort in Gold and Money production and yet allows me to build Buildings, Wonders, and Units and keep my Science Slider at 100%??? Please critique my Game!!!

There are some bugs in gold that builds up over time, hit ctrl+shift+T to recalculate modifiers, should cut down your deficit to about a third from what I remember from debugging your earlier CTD save.

This is where my Game is at now. Still having loads of FUN, but It would be GREAT if in Version 44 it would be a little Easier to Maintain a Healthy Economy so my Units could kill Wild Animals and Barbarians and I could reduce my Vassal, Brazil, to One City by way of Cultural Expansion and Takeover and Colonize the Entire Universe in a Mastery Victory!!!

I still believe that there could be World Wonders like the Mayo Clinic and Walter Reed Hospital and also some Great Hospitals from Europe and Asia that I might not be familiar with I still like the idea of finding the Sacred Mountain and I think it would be fun to find Bigfoot and the Loch Ness Monster too. I also think we could bring back Interfaith but should of course make it less overpowered because it is too big of an advantage to have Monasteries of every Religion producing Science and the Temples and Cathedrals in all of one's empire's cities. I still usually adhere to Christianity for the purpose of St. John's Crusade, spawning Crusaders every few turns is awesome and I love Andeanism for the Science and Asaratu for the military experience point and I have raised a lot of money in the past by having Motherland Calls and getting paid to disband units that I don't need and I can't wait for Version 44 and it would be Awesome if the modding team came out with Multimaps this year and I still will probably be willing to buy Civilization 7 out of curiosity but it might not come out until 2025 and will most likely cost $60 or more and then have all kinds of DLC for sale to ensure big profits for the Civilization owners and I still think Sid Meier's is a genius for inventing this game and others too!!! Just Finished Researching Transcendent Lifestyle now and will try to continue with this game and start a New Game with Version 44!! I have only been able to colonize the Solar System because my Interstellar probes and World Ships disband before they get outside of the Solar System because of negative cash flow in my Economy. My Goal is always to Research the entire Tech Tree and Colonize as much of the Universe as possible!!!

Civilization VII
When is the Civilization 7 release date? For over 20 years, the Civilization series has captivated PC gamers with its intricate strategy, forcing players to think about more than just conquering their neighbors. Sometimes, the best victory is by being diplomatically savvy while secretly building massive cultural wonders and hoping nobody notices – especially the nuke-hungry Gandhi.
Now that we’ve had confirmation from Firaxis that Civilization 7 is officially in development, we’ve been gathering as much information as possible about the next installment of the strategy game series. While it’s still early days, and we haven’t even seen a trailer for it yet, we can at least figure out when you should expect to play it.
Civ 7 release date: how the Civ 6 map looks right now, with the hope that Civ 7's map doesn't look like this.

Civilization 7 release date estimate

The Civilization 7 release date is expected to be sometime in 2024. We’re basing this date on a few factors. It’s the earliest we’ve known about the release of a new game from Firaxis; however, for previous Civ games, we’ve seen the announcement trailer only a few months before the eventual release.
There has been no official confirmation of a Civ 7 release date yet from Firaxis or 2K Games, and given that we’ve not heard a peep yet about a trailer, it’s unlikely that the game will come out in the first half of this year.

Depends on civics you have - its Fixed Borders game option
Civics say which ones have fixed borders mechanic

And nobody ever explained what that MEANS, or at least I haven't seen it.
Is it basically "can't lose territory to foreign culture", or what else?

To some extent, what it means depends a lot on the civics you have so... it's hard to explain generically. That and I believe a while back that there were a lot of design arguments over it and we settled on some complexities that tried to walk a line between various views on what it SHOULD mean. Therefore it became again harder to explain.

I did not change the civics that had this Fixed Borders segment. Partly cause I was not sure how it was affected by realistic borders. Maybe now is the time to remove Fixed Borders from all Civics that has it?

Why? Do we have a problem with fixed borders as an option?

I really don't know. I stopped using the Fixed Borders Option Years ago. I'd be curious how many C2C players use it at all. Is it still a Game setup option? I'll have to look I guess.

It is... I'd almost rather the game used it from the beginning but I always did like the idea that earlier in history borders were more a matter of what nation people declared themselves to be in support of and it wasn't until more rule of law and international legalities were introduced that borders became so fixed.

Looks like WorldInfo has a tag you'll need to change.
And maybe EraInfo.
Not sure if that's everything...
Spoiler c++ code :

C++:
int CvPlayer::getReligionAnarchyLength() const
{
    if (isGoldenAge())
    {
        return 0;
    }
    const int iMaxAnarchy = getMaxAnarchyTurns();

    if (iMaxAnarchy < 1)
    {
        return 0;
    }
    int iAnarchyLength = GC.getDefineINT("BASE_RELIGION_ANARCHY_LENGTH");

    iAnarchyLength *= GC.getGameSpeedInfo(GC.getGame().getGameSpeedType()).getSpeedPercent();
    iAnarchyLength /= 100;

    iAnarchyLength += (getNumCities() * GC.getWorldInfo(GC.getMap().getWorldSize()).getNumCitiesAnarchyPercent() / 100);

    iAnarchyLength = ((iAnarchyLength * std::max(0, (getAnarchyModifier() + 100))) / 100);

    if (iAnarchyLength == 0)
    {
        return 0;
    }

    iAnarchyLength *= GC.getEraInfo(getCurrentEra()).getAnarchyPercent();
    iAnarchyLength /= 100;

    //TB Traits begin
    if (getReligiousAnarchyModifier() !=0)
    {
        iAnarchyLength += iAnarchyLength * getReligiousAnarchyModifier() / 100;
    }
    //TB Traits end

    return range(iAnarchyLength, getMinAnarchyTurns(), iMaxAnarchy);
}

thx the era one did it.. i dont like anarchy,, if u change religions also about 5-6 techs, just on blitz, it could take an hour in anarchy, no offense to anyone, but for me thats :aargh: . .
