Caveman 2 Cosmos

Which file contains the new threading entry(ies)?

Or, more specifically, is it ok to keep the v30 Usersettings folder and replace the default one that comes with v31? Thus the filename if necessary if manual modification is needed.

Thanks in advance.

It's not in the user settings at all, so the v30 one will be fine from that perspective. I'm unsure if there a other factors that might cause prolegs with v30 user settings or not, but I don't think there are.

Dear strategyonly and other Authors!

I would like to inform that in my system the v.31 is unfortunately less stable than v.30. Nevertheless, I never managed to figure out what exactly produces the fail...

I extracted v.31 using ultimate 7Zip with no errors, having 5 GB space free, that means no possible file loss. The day before yesterday I loaded my recent game I started under v.30... That used to be a start from Renaissance era, no Advanced start. I recalculated the variables as it offered. It started to fall completely to Windows with no apparent reason almost each turn, somewhat after 20 turns. Almost each turn means I never figured "the deadly turn" or the situation that might have caused the collapse, but it was collapsing too often, in 2-3 turns. After 3 fails I got tired and sleepy (as always playing at night) and decided to start over next day, cause my laptop needs about 10 minutes to launch the C2C and the savegame.

So yesterday I thought that probably my savegame didn't make it correctly through variable recalculation, so I decided to start a new game. I chose lesser map size (normal), and Ancient era, this time to be able to skip the prehistoric, each other option as always, on... And started playing. This time C2C was more stable, but over turns and turns, meanwhile I was saving it almost each turn just in case... it committed the same trick... sound went off and the game autoclosed collapsing to Windows.

There were no changes in my system, the map was lesser... the options were the same, my favorite, as always. The only difference was Era start - Ancient instead of Prehistoric... I will keep playing trying to figure out what is the reason of the collapses... Ehh... Anyway, I will inform you and give my savegame if I manage to find the "deadly turn" or even the reason of the instability.

I have the same problem.

Hello! I really love this mod, although at times it's rather over the top.

I have a question; does the Assimilation option work with Cultures? i.e if a city or a civ had Iroquois culture wonder, and I conquer said city, will I be able to build Iroquois Tomahawks?

A culture is a (non-map) resource, so it can't be captured although it could theoretically be traded for.

What you do get by capturing an Iroquois city is Culture (North American) - if you didn't already have it - allowing you (if you have the other prereqs) to build North American culture wonders that haven't been built yet.

If you're experiencing crashes with V31 try the patch DLL I posted here: http://forums.civfanatics.com/showpost.php?p=12618963&postcount=78

It corrects one definite issue, and adds some extra diagnostics for another. Let me know how you get on.
Thank you very much, Koshling! Now it works smoothly. Here I give you my cache folder as requested, because it failed to launch with my cache:

You need a BitTorrent program.
It is a magnet link, you can process it with uTorrent easily, nowadays uTorrent understands magnet links, or any other BitTorrent prog, just install it and run, it will recognize the link.

Spasibo, Dima, for the torrent link! =)

Why are you quoting me?

First, I want to thank all of you modders who continue to work on C2C and make it such a FANTASTIC mod!

Second, I am planning on getting a new computer (and this mod is one of the reasons since I can't really get that far in a game). I read through the system requirments on page 1 (http://forums.civfanatics.com/showpost.php?p=7175013&postcount=4), but I was wondering if they have been updated since then. Here's the actual part I am referring to:

Suggested PC requirements:
2.6 GHz (64 bit) but 32 will do (But do the 3 GB switch)
4 GB memory but three will do
10 GB free space but 60 is better
1 GB graphics card, but 256 might work
Lots of free time to spare, will take way over 100 hours to win.

(FYI, some of my current specs are Pentium D, 3.20 GHZ, 2GB Ram, Windows XP, NVidea GeForce 8600 GTS video card) -- OK, stop laughing now. :D

Ok here's me:

I bought a Win 7, 64 bit, 8 GB RAM, 2 graphics cards(series 5700) and a 500GB harddrive, last year

That wasn't enough for ME, so i just bought a NEW PC on the 3rd of Jul with:

Win 8, 64 bit, 16GB RAM(can have up to 64), a ASUS 7970 ATI Crossfire dedicated 3GB memory, a 1 TB Hardrive with a 120 SSD, with an i7-3930K processor 3.2 Ghz, 3201 Mhz, 6 core, 12 Logical Processors

Thanks for your reply. That is an awesome video card! Perhaps that is where my new configuration is lacking.

I was planning on something like this:

i7-4770k processor, 8 (or 16) GB RAM, ASUS motherboard (don't know which one), 240 GB SSD, 1 (or 2) TB HD, Win 7 and possibly the NVidia GeForce GTX660 (2 GB) video card.

*Note: This is the site where I first heard about SSD!

Dont settle for the 660(you''ll just be disappointed), never go under the 680 is my advice.
Infact i didnt like the 680 either. I have now tried three 680's and they still dont out perform the 7970 in performance that is. Quality is different.

Thanks again. I think I have undermined the importance of a computer's video card in the past. I will try to find something better than the 660. But I can't go as high as the 7970 due to its price (about $450!).
