Caveman 2 Cosmos

Even that changed as testers started saying similar statements like yours about v24.

V25 or the SVN is what you Should be trying now.

Your feedback is always welcome.

JosEPh :)

OK, I'll try it then.

Black Terrain problem?

I see various posts about the black terrain problem back on v13 but have just encountered it on v25??

I have done a fresh install of my lappy up to win7 64 bit with 4GB Ram the graphic card is a nvidia geforce 9200m which appears to be working correctly.

Started a new game and saved it out after a while. When I reload the saved game All the terrain is black.

I have read about it a few times but did not see any soloutions.

Is there any please.

Update. Just updated graphic drivers and now I get black terrain on a new game.??

Brand new to this mod, haven't played Civ4 in many years(want to get back into the flow of things before buying civ5), and holy crap there are a ton of options when starting a new game. any recommendations for a learner?

See the Favorite Settings thread for what we modders like to use for options. Those will normally work the best, although there are many many workable combinations of options.

PS. Are you the shenryyr who makes LPs of paradox interactive games on youtube?

Take a look at favourite settings, a lot of them have descriptions on what each option does.

ok cool, got it started, several hundred turns in and i get some crashing issues (not sure my comp can handle this... gamebryo failed to allocate memory - I remember this error from years ago) but other than that so far so good. the AI is stomping my face in score, they're city spamming(well tribe spamming) I will definitely have to adjust my play style for this.

and yes this is the same person, I saw this mod on someone's LP of prehistoric canada, thought it would be fun to try out

Shenn,
Believe me if I can run it on my machine (WinXP, Pentium IV 3Ghz, 3GB memory, Geforce 7600GT) you should be able to on yours.

First turn on the viewports.
From the c2c FAQ thread:
Q: Viewports? What are those?

A: Version 25 now has viewports! A Viewport is a part of the map that the game engine sees, while the dll sees the entire map. This is done to reduce memory usage, which the game engine is horrible at. Using Viewports, you should never experience another MAF, as long as your machine is at least somewhat recent. To enable Viewports, go to Assets/XML/ParallelMaps_GlobalDefines.xml, and change the following define from 0 to 1.
Code:
<Define>
<DefineName>ENABLE_VIEWPORTS</DefineName>
<iDefineIntVal>0</iDefineIntVal>
</Define>

Second, I don't have the link handy but somewhere around here I found instrucitons on how to get a 32 bit system to see 3GB of memory instead of 2.

If he's using the SVN, that is outdated, now they are BUG options. If you set graphics settings to medium, use a 60 tile by 40 tile Viewport, and use a Giant (not Gigantic) map, you should be fine.

@Shenryyr: I'd advise that if you actually choose to do an LP of C2C that you DON'T use the SVN version, as while it is probably better from a feature and gameplay perspective, it is far worse from a stability perspective. V26 should be released next week, which would be a good starting point for an LP. Also, if you have a 32 bit Windows, then the instructions on the 3 GB switch are Here for Vista and 7 and Here for XP, IDK which one you have.

Good to know that viewports are going to be BUG options. Also thanks for providing the 3GB switch links.

Shenryr: Fair warning, old machines take a long time to load the game. Mine (at least the one I have CIV IV on) takes about 9 minutes and the first half (4.5 minutes) there is often no indication that the game is loading other than the little light for the hard drive.

Yeah, I should probably update the FAQs thread with that and with the 3GB switch links.

got a decent game going now, no crashes lately either (I did do the memory thing for 32bit, thanks for that tip)

this mod is quite fun but also overwhelming by the sheer amount of content. it's going to take a long time to get an understanding of how things balance out and whether any of these buildings are a waste of time or actually useful... especially after founding a new village.

@Hydro
I read about your power mod and this is cool stuff but i cant find some parts of this mod in the C2C ex.

City Power Consumption
Each city uses up x number of megawatts from the national power level. The amount is determined by the following equation ....

1 Where I cant find it on the city screen ??? It is important to me because now building Hover Dam
making game to easy to play. I always play on GEM so after build this wonder entire africa, europe, asia has a power in reality it took years to spread energy to all cities.

2 Dont you think that power nets shoud required coppe wires?

3 What do you think about power net tile improvement for workers? The goal of idea should be have only few power plants that give energy to entire nation. SO if your enemy destroy your power nets you have no power... not long ago a half of India had no power cause something wrong happened in few of their power plants. After reserching wireless electricity we may add building that give ability to spread energy from city to city without power nets.

4 Maybe you could make it simpler ex. Every power plant (depending on type) produce some amount of energy resource.
Every conected city consumes 1 energy resource. In that way we have no micromanagement and we add very important factor to the gameplay.
Also we can trade energy with others like its hapen in modern times.

There is a ~200 post thread about it in the "bugs" sub-forum, but the simple fact is that it is very inconsistent as to why it happens and what to do if it does happen. Try looking there and see if anything mentioned there works for you. For example, I "fixed" it by simply deleting an old SVN and replacing it with a new one, and haven't had problems in months. That may not work for you, but as I said various things works for different people. Sacrificing a chicken (ie, getting lucky) seems to be the most consistent of any of the solutions.

Well, if you notice anything you think is unbalanced post about it in the C2C Balance thread, in the Strategy/Tips subforum. Yes we do have a lot of content, but much of it is stuff that requires one or more resources, and are designed to give resources a greater impact over what you can and can't build.

I recommend Production>and whatever else you need. If I'm okay with money, I usually prioritize food. If I need more money (expanding my army or fueling my maintenance), gold. If the border needs to stay under my control, culture. Whatever else is however you want to build the city.

I tend to use some of the icons near the top of it to sort them out. Very useful.

If you start with V26, you can use the Build Lists to remove some of the repeated queuing of buildings. Here is how those work.

0. We have only done some of it but it has not been set up for the new property system. Mainly because I made it BEFORE the property system was set up. However I will eventually get around to doing it.

1. Its not there yet. It currently only uses the old system of Power or No Power. However power is represented in :hammers:.

2. What do you mean by "power nets"?

3. Well with the property system we should be able to produce power from tile improvements such as windmills and solar panels. So yes.

4. That's the idea and yes. Like I said before, we did not have the code for it before but now we do, its just a matter of applying it to the mod. However I am working on other stuff and will eventually get to it. I can only do so much. And since not that many people get past the industrial revolution it has been less of a priority.

Power nets. We have building from your power mod that is required to build power plant. Maybe I name it wrong. I just checked Power Lines should require copper wires.

What are you think abour Mind Controll Prison upgraded from cryogenic prison where people are simply reprogram to be lojal and to not do crime again

Hi,
I play in this great fashion and thank you for having created it, civ 5 is a bust, and if not you and the other modders, probably for many years (civ1) have stopped playing civilization.

Playing in the C23 came to the present day (marathon, great, PerfWord), the game was very exciting and I played like magic, but there was something strange.
Despite the possibilities of technology and raw materials, did not produce any AI aircraft! were helicopters, balloons, airships were not.
I gave my vassals, and only a few aircraft were used.

Complained terribly, so beautiful and difficult gameplay and a handicap here.
Can I save sent to investigate, I hope it will not happen again in the C25, because it would be sad :)

-As far as too high stacks, I treat it so that it is a lot of enemy troops and you can not see the number, you should carry a spy who can enter the stack and we have info :)

I greet and greet
I'm sorry, I was writing the translator;)
