Caveman 2 Cosmos

Bad news: Back when I downloaded and installed V25, I neglected to change the folder name and installed it as "Caveman2Cosmos v25". I know better now and renamed the folder on the latest to just plain Caveman2Cosmos. However when I try to load my old game it says it needs Caveman2Cosmos v25 and to reload that mod. Is there anyway around that issue, or should I just start over?

You will need to cal the current version Caveman2Cosmos v25 to continue playing the saved game.

Don't know what 'cal the current version' means.

If you mean recalculate... How would I do that, it won't let me load that version (to do either the auto recalculate or to do a manual one).

It's not that big a deal. I had a rather commanding position in the middle of Classic period so it wasn't really a challenge.

My keyboard refuses to do double letters, I have to go back and add them later:(.

I meant that you would need to call (folder name) the current folder the same as the folder name used for the version the save was from.

What's in the new update? :P

At this rate I'll finish my current game around the time v30 comes out.

Ahh...
That's a shame. It's probably for the best to just dump the old one and go with the correct (no version ##) name from now on in.

Most annoying unit in the game

Pirate corvette
- comes from air (my rivals dont have tech to build it)
- i cant see it (even my gunship, modern frigate cant see it)
- it easli kills my gunship, modern frigate - everything
- it pillage everything every turn (very very very annoying ..... and spoils gameplay)
- there are plenty of them (every turn they destroy me aprox 20 tile improvements)

That was the sight I was directed at, when I clicked on the download link IE8 barfed and kept trying to reload the web site and eventually failed. *I guess I could've clicked the other link for additional mirrors.

Just for future reference:
IE will not work with gamefront. If you set GF as a "restricted" site, you can connect but of course cannot download then. I always use Firefox when I have to use gamefront (which I hate as I hate the UI for FF)

I presume to install the patch, we just replace the specific included files; since it seems far too small to replace by folder.

Oh and for the record I was able to get the patch using IE8, by not downloading it from that page but by clicking on the mirror option.

What is the point of putting such units into the game? How does it help the mod?

@ls612

Concept is good but only when
- player understand it
- invisible units are build by your oponents not from thin air

I am in point that i dont know what to do. I dont know what building or unit i should build to see pirate corvette. I dont understand why even my gunships dont see it.

Imagine situation. I have stack of 10 Gunships (best tech unit that current techs allows) - something attacks us - defeat us - and i dont even sea what it was. Aliens?

Concept that i dont see unit (and dont6 know what to do to see it) and AI use it to pilage everything is only annoying
Concept itself is good but need some work on it.

They have Hidden Nationality, so odds are you are quite a ways behind someone else with access to these units in the Tech race. If the Barbs are actually getting them (I can check that with the Debug build), then that should not be happening, but I'll bet that they are owned by someone more advanced than you.

There are far too many of them and they are far too powerful. It's like the espionage missions in your own territory with the purpose of killings workers; they happen too often.

It adds a new level of tactics. You can also use asymmetrical warfare. The Corvette might be OP for it's time, I don't know, but the concept is sound.

@ls612

You oose a beer ;) they start to attack after some pirate event.

So they belongs to pirates. It is impossible that they belongs to someone because i have entire map revelated and every civ is espionaged by me so i know everything about them.

Ok i understand that they have hidden nationality but why they are invisible? and what to do to see it?

Hi,

I've been playing this mod, and so far it's been a lot of fun - especially with Neanderthals. However, I've now reached the Ancient Age, and something strange is happening - techs are taking longer to research than their beaker cost and my beaker production indicates they should. For example, Fungiculture costs 1590 beakers, and I'm making 146 per turn. So, it should take 11 turns. But the game says it will take 25 turns. Is there some hidden factor that makes Ancient Age techs more expensive?

Prehistoric techs still cost the amont I'd expect them to. But I'm rapidly running out of those techs, and can't avoid the Ancient Age forever.
