Yes, could you send me a PM when the games start? It would be greatly appreciated.

Oh, and I'm Arnesio on the site.

I'll be in as well. I will give myself a visual handicap so it won't be one-sided.

Don't write us off as hopeless till ya play us.

WE ARE MAXING OUT AT 28 SO IF YOU WANT TO GET IN, DO IT NOW! WE'LL ALSO TAKE ON A FEW BACKUP PLAYERS IN CASE OF DROPOUTS.

Perfection is working on the tournament structure now.

Here's the general scheme:
schemekl8.png

The wildcard slots will be determined by the two people who aren't yet picked with the highest average points per game.

The assignment of people to brackets will be determined via RNG.

Notes involving ties:
Ties for the top two players in each round robin will take wildcard slots

Ties for those who are to be in the wildcard slots will be dealt with in the following manner
1. The semifinalist round robin will be expanded to 7 players
2. If that does not resolve the tie, and the qualifiers for the other semifinalist round has no tie, then the other semifinalist round will be expanded to 7 players and one player will be moved there (determined by chance).
3. If (heaven forbid) the tie is still not resolved then posters will be randomly paired for 90 minute yahoo chess matches, all losers will be eliminated (if there is a draw the game will be deterimined in succesive 10 minute matches until someone wins). The last two people standing will win.

Those for winners of the semifinalist round will play a single elimination 90 minute yahoo chess tournament (with 10 minute matches for draws), the winner moves on.

Ties for the winner takes all game shall be resolved with another corresponance game until someone wins.

hmm, it sounds good mostly Perf except that expanding the semifinal RR to seven probably won't resolve a tie very well (since the top two canditates will probably both easiy beat whoever the 5th place wildcard is).

I think any draws should immediately go to yahoo chess (or similar) to be dealt with (except in the finals of course).

Also, we should have the bottom four players compete in a round robin also to detirmine loser of the year. :D Then, if they score well next year they can also win Most Improved Player. :)

Just for fun, at the end of the tourny we should have votes for the top three games. Best checkmate. Best queen sacrifice. Best combination. Stuff like that. :)

There are only two wildcard slots for each group. It's the top two players of each group (for 4 total) and two wildcards culled from both groups.

I view yahoo chess as something of last resort as it is logistically messy. We don't want to have to do that if we don't have to.

ok, we've ironed it out.

If three people are tied for a wildcard slot all three go on to semi-finals. Any ties in semi-finals get resolved by an immediate yahoo game.

A draw in the finals gets a rematch (via queenalice) until someone gains the championship. :)

Ok, now to pair up the players into four groups.

I generated this sequence on Random.org

Everyone please register on QueenAlice.com, don't start your games yet though. Perfection is going to figure out some system to figure out who plays white or black in each game.

Once we get underway here are the rules :

3/days per move is the length you should play in your tourny games. If you need a break for an emergency please take a "vacation" (see QueenAlice rules for details) of however many days you need. Play honesty and be a good sport.

That's it. :)

AGAIN : Perfection is figuring out how to set up the colors so be patient we will probably be able to get underway by late tomorrow or early Sunday. In the meantime, please Register. :)

We are pleased to announce we have hired Fifty as the tournament creative consultant. He will be assisting us in naming groups and other such matters. We are very grateful to have him lending his expertise to our fine event.

Cool ! :)

At the end of the tourney, we should also debate if the system we'll use here is the best one, or if there is room for improvement. I haven't played chess for a while, so I don't know what's best, and will gladly play according to Perfection's system. :)

We could also have a cool name for the tourney, like Narz's Invitation Tournament, or CFC's 2006 Chess Tournament, or whatever... :)

Now, on to that QueenAlice site... :)

He is 'col' (he said so on another site). Haven't checked on QueenAlice directly though.

BTW, we should edit the first post of this thread with the QueenAlice pseudo of every player, for quick checking purpose. I have the same complicated pseudo over there. :p

Registered as stuge.

BTW, Narz. It says in your profile that you're interested in biking. What sort?
