I'm entering a big tourney (again) also. The World Open in Philly, grand prize for the U-1600 section $20K !

I will post all my games also (as well as all my games from the previous Vegas tourney) for "everyone's" (you, Mehmed and a few guests' ) enjoyment & scrutiny.

May we both have strength , stealth and come home with !

We poor Swedes can only dream about your prizemoney. (Although I'd rather have free healthcare, free education etcetera...)

The winner of the whole thing becomming Swedish Champion (rating favourite is GM Berg at 2601) will win 3,345.11 USD at today's exchange rate. There are no cash prizes in class 3 that I play in. There are reportedly item prizes depending on the number of entries.

Now I have to go to work and as soon as I end the work day it's off to location. See you later.

On the bright side I'll bet your event didn't cost $369 to enter. Also the hotel near the tourney costs $91 a night (and my GF won't split it with me even though she's coming along for the ride ). So I need to place in the top 10 just to break even.

I doubt there is a trophy but there might be a small plack of some sort. Not sure. I paid $84 to enter class 3. The hotel is $67 per night for a single room. It is much cheaper than normal since the organizer of the tournament has an arrangement with this and two other hotels. Unfortunately I have no girlfriend to bring so there is nobody to not split the bill with.

Good luck! Probably take a break from the Net for awhile. I did when in Vegas and I think it helped me. The Internet is very distracting, I preferred to just play, relax, swim (hotel pool), eat, sleep with a bit of game analysis & socializing with the guys from my California club. If you do sign on though keep us posted!

Well, turns out I do have Internet access but that QA won't accept my password. I guess it's possible I typed it wrong. Anyway, no moves there until I get back home on Saturday.

We followed a game in my databse (Henk Vedder - P. Stromberg) until move 12. That game continued 12. Nf5 exf5 13. Nxd5 Nf3+ 14. gxf3 Qh4+ 15. Kf1 0-0 with an edge for black.

I should probably have castled on move 13 or 14. I'm not exactly sure why I did not. Perhaps it's the contant successful attacks on my King at the Swedish championships that made me not want to castle anymore. Anyhow, I didn't see much for me after Qb4. Qd7 seemed to fail after Nxe5 dxe5 Bh5+ and 17. Qd4 Nf6 simply g4 looked good for white I thought.

The computer's suggestion 16...a5 is interesting. I didn't see that move. Still, I am happy with the draw.

I managed to actually start attacking. I'm surprised the way the game has turned out, considering my passive opening.

I thought I had a decent position with some prospects on the queen-side but I underestimated your chances on the kingside which is now looking very sickly.

Sorry about that. I sent him a reminder, and I'll see if I can find him in fiftychat or something. If he doesn't respond in a day or so, I'll claim it - I really don't like doing so (Especially when I'm losing, it feels like cheating someone) but there isn't much else to do about it.

EDIT: And the game is back on! I think we're done for the night, but we both moved several times in a row. I expect we'll be done fairly shortly, so long as we keep at it - perhaps a few days, a week at the most, I should think. (Now watch us dance around for the next month )
