CFC Minecraft Server -- World 4

Clarification of existing policy:

The standing policy of the server has always been the following:

If the land is unclaimed (and by unclaimed there is no residence or town or civilization there) anyone may build there. If you do not want someone building next to you, please use these in game features to claim the land.

If you do claim land and you do not want people building there, please make sure outside build permission is off/false. By leaving it on you do give permission for outside people to build/destroy in your space (griefing will be dealt with on a case by case basis, lord knows I accidentally left the tnt setting on a few times myself).

This has been the standing policy since world 1.

This is the image Princescamp tried to post, but since there were bad words in the file name his link got broken.

Rude.

I just ran around the area. From what I can tell nothing was built in someone elses claim. While I can see why building so close to other residences can be considered rude, it is most definitely NOT griefing nor violates any rules. I've given both individuals some lunch detention to cool down.

On a fully separate matter I want to check up on how people are feeling about Residence. Good, bad, indifferent? Better than/ worse than/ same as Towny? Are both meh and I should I draft up a proposal for a civilization themed alternative?

How can that be evaluated though? What is rude for one person is not rude for another. We also have no central means of communication for people who are out of game. All my attempts to do so never took root.

The reality of persistent games is that people are going to do their own thing. Sometimes they are things I do not like because they are ugly or not realistic. But because it is a shared space I need to accept the fact that there will be things happening next to me that I do not like. I get over it and move on.

HWe also have no central means of communication for people who are out of game.
This thread, PMs on the forum, and the mail system on the server are all quite effective.

Also yeah I miss towny, it worked really well.

On residence: I much prefer Towny to Residence. Towny is what made playing with other people fun, as we all lived and worked in a real city.

Agreed, Infact I haven't bothered reclaiming my built area at all after the lease ran out. If someone on the server is stupid enough to start pillaging what I've built I don't care. If towny is ever getting updated I'll welcome it back. At the moment residence "will do" since it's better than nothing.

The main idea for a plugin like towny is to have multiple people working together. However it has been my observation over each progressing world that this has not happened as everyone wanted to start their own town. If we return to towny what can I do/add/change/remove that would encourage people to come together?

I don't think its a problem with towny that is preventing people from building towns together, its the players themselves. They may not wish to build in the same area which has already been built up, or just want to do their own thing. Many of the one or two player towns set up by random people not from CFC in World 3 were barely built and abandoned anyway. There weren't that many random towns either, I can only remember 4 off the top of my head and there was still plenty of unused land left on the map.

We didn't really have any problems working together to build Rapture and Port Geoff, although most of us who did so are already friends and often played games together already (especially Left 4 Dead). You just need players who are going to be active and actually build more than a half-finished house.

One thing I recommend against is adding any further bonuses to getting more people to join your town, that simply resulted in any new person joining the server getting assaulted by offers to join a town and/or get a tour of the server (that was just one mediocre unfinished town) before they even had a clue what half the plug ins are or knew anything about the server. And many of them logged onto the server only a few times (if they even came back once).

We could have a rule stating that there could only be a set number of cities. That would encourage larger cities like the ones in world 1.

Hey guys. I also have minecraft, but ever since I began lagging on multiplayer and since my real life friend deleted his minecraft server, I haven't played it very often. However, I'm looking for a server to see if I am still lagging on multiplayer. Basically, the lag is so bad, that when I dig out something, nothing pops out and the block that I dug/mined out returns to its spot for a few seconds then disappears.

If anyone can solve my lag issue on multiplayer minecraft, I'll join this server and help anyone in need of building anything. I'm currently using a DELL desktop computer which is about 5 years old. The game still runs fine but it crashes every 10-15 minutes. :(

TLDR:
Get a new computer
Yes, once I finish year 12.

I think somehow Minecraft Mania or some other mod is crossing wires with the new powered rails. :hmm: Oddly enough the powered rails work...when not powered by redstone. :ack: When they are powered by redstone they act as if they were not powered :twitch: (or at least how they are supposed to act when not powered). A little strange. :smoke:

Also, whenever I reach the end of a rail, I put an iron block - which according to Mincraft Mania - is supposed to eject you from the cart, before the cart enters the storage block. But somehow the end of the journey just makes me instantly travel back to the start of the rail....where I started. What am I doing wrong?
