CFC Model UN - Security Council Simulation

The first person to post in this thread showing interest will be given the spot of the Chilean ambassador.

The chair presents Resolution 1a:

Creators: China
Sponsors: China, Bulgaria, Mexico

Recognizing that Diplomatic talks will continue with North Korea for up to a period of 6 months. If, at this point, North Korea has not come to a position on its nuclear program that appeases both the United States and the Security Council, then the Security Council will meet again to make a new resolution on North Korea.

Taking into consideration that the United States and the United Nations will both want to be present at these talks, but North Korea will want to be on neutral ground, North Korea could create a non-voting delegate to meet in the United Nations building in New York and have the talks for 6 months there.

Agreeing that if the talks fail and both the US and the Security Council are not satisified with the result, the North Korean delegate will be revoked and will no longer participate in UN discussion until further notice.

Upon failure of the talks with North Korea and the United States, and that the United States and the Security Council are not satisified with the result, a new resolution will be proposed and voted on. This new resolution will cover tougher methods of action, such as weapons inspectors and sanctions.

---

This will be posted on the front page. More sponsors may be added if they wish to sponsor it within the next 12 hours, as the resolution is new.

The chair recognizes the esteemed delegate from Russia as the next speaker.

I again am posting my interest in the spot of the Chilean ambassador.

Huh,probably I could speak for North Korea.
Did I reply so late or why didn't I get a nation (Considering there was some waiting for players)?

Sorry, I was away for the entire week. I didn't think you'd get this up and running so quickly. Is it too late for me to report "present"?

EDIT: If I have been replaced, then sorry, let the other one have my country - I don't want to cause any trouble...

EDIT(2): Looking at naerwood's title, it seems I have been replaced. Fair enough. Sorry about the trouble...

Agh, my fault Kennelly, completely forgot you signed up.

I think that the cleanest and most painless way to go about this is to give Naervod the Chilean position and either you or Insurgent the North Korean position, depending on who posts here first.

We will then continue based on how things pan out.

Kennelly can have it...

When there is no one left on the speaker's list, then we will vote.

We have 6 people on the list, starting with Russia, who has taken 2 days to respond :hmm:...

Thanks, insurgent.I'll speak for N.Korea then. But as soon as I can get a voting nation,I'd like to grab it.

Die,imperialistic bastards!

Oh yeah, sign me up for a voting nation too, please! :goodjob:

Is there going to be a time limit on how long Russia can take to speak?

I thought we had clarified I was speaking for North Korea, Toasty, before this thing even started?

Kennelly signed up before I began speaking with you.

I say we give Russia until 6 PM EST (11.5 hours from this post) until we put him on the bottom of the speakers list. Who's with me?

Sounds good.

Well, seeing as how it has been 12 hours, I propose that we move Russia to the bottom of the speaking list, but please keep him as the ambassador. Also, I propose a new rule: from the time that Toasty sends a PM or posts about a person's turn in the speaking list, that person must respond in post or PM within two days or they will be moved to the bottom of the speaking list. Sound good?
