Hi folks,

In my working place I have possibility to play CIV5 during pauses but IT administrators prohibit use of Steam and then removed that.

I managed to make IV5 working nicely except I get stuck with black screen every 10 min. Then reboot and all necessary blablabla.
I got to know that it is a game resolution pb.

Question is :
How can we change the resolution of the game without Steam ?

Please help, this would be highly appreciated.

Best regards,
Jjeesti

There is no option to change Civ V resolution within Steam. So if you're having resolution problems you'll need to change it via the config files.

In "My Documents\My Games\Sid Meier's Civilization 5\" there are several .ini files. You can try to find the one the resolution is specified in (in my case it's "GraphicsSettingsDX9.ini", WindowsResX and WindowsResY), or you can just delete (or move, or rename) all the .ini files and Civ V will regenerate default versions.

Or you can go into Civ5's option menu in game and change it there. Like any normal game.

EDIT: Wait, unless you meant in case that isn't working, then yes going into the ini files would work. However rereading his post I'm not sure if the resolution if the problem anyways,
