Changing the French leader

No Bismark was a consummate leader who deserves his place. Must say though i'd like Stalin to be in even though the USSR has collapsed. Joan must go though- I can't stand French history and i am delighted that my country is now richer than France. Like the idea of Napoleon or De Gaulle. Yeah can see why you feel so strongly about Hitler maybe i'd feel the same in your position? Yeah i prefer the leaders and battles and can't say i've really looked at the holocaust in great detail. I did GCSE history and it featured heavily in the course- must say i switched off whenever it was mentioned.

What's that? What's so bad about French history. I like England's more, but this is all very off topic. I think there is another thread to debate whether Stalin should be in or not. As for now, Louis XIV or Napoleon are my top two choices, De Gaulle being a good "great leader", IMHO. However, for a WWII scenario, he would be perfect for it.

Catherine is fine for Russia. She accomplished a lot for the country, certainly more than Joan did for France. But anyways, Nappy should be their leader and that's the end of it. :p ;)

GCSE history is a 2 year course covering Nazi Germany from Wall Street Crash to the outbreak of WW2, Russia from Tsarism through to the Bolsheviks, Superpower relations (cold war), and America- a divided union (civil rights) 1941+. I've just done my GCSEs and history was source based (russia and germany) and essay style answers (usa and superpower relations) You do GCSE at 16. This is probably why i'm so interested in WW2 scenarios and the correct leaderheads. Sorry i just don't like French history- i've tried to be interested in it but i can't. Don't blame you for being interested in our history. I'm interested in the US now as you are the world superpower whereas we use to be. France to me have always seemed irelevant and they've had no leaders who've been of interest to me apart from Napoleon. Joan- she just annoys me, do you think she'll be withdrawn if enough people request it?

you done your exams? my brothers in Atlanta at Mercer University. Set up a poll then- as good as a petition!

Huh? Exams? You lost me.

I should make a poll, but I think with the threads about Joan being bad already around, the mods might get angry because it will be reduntant...

yeah don't you do any exams in America when your 16- i had to do 10. Spent about 25 hours doing exams in one month. Must be why us brits are so much more intelligent than you yanks! lol!

dont count on that- the only reason why the U.S on a whole seems so unintelligent is becvause we have so many people- there A LOT of intelligent people in the US, somthing the world needs to remember befor they start bagging on US citizen intelligence... after all, how many U.S inventions (true, all those inventions then got liscensed to be made in the far east, but that is beside the point here...) are you using, and I wager (amoung other things...) that the trend will continue....

Hey calm down, no true because of your huge population you probably have more intelligent people than we do. I was watching Newsnight (UK) and an American was asked if he supported overthrowing Saddams regime and he said, "yeh for sure, who?" Americans are shown to be stupid on our TV and that is why it is believed that they are a bit thick .No i like the Americans and can't stand how close we are becoming to Europe. I feel more inclined to Yanks than i do to Germans etc......

Ian - The US school system is different. We don't do "exams" at 16. We take various exams along the way, until we graduate from High School about 18. Then if we want to (and can afford to) we go on to university. But at least until we are 18, we take general courses in just about everything. Theoretically by then we should be generally well-versed and grounded in just about everything, and ready for the specialization that higher education and/or employment offers. :D

(Of course, the fact that many teachers pass kids on their end-of-year exams when they should fail them means we have a systemic problem in our system, which has grown worse over the years. But that's a topic for a different thread, and not in the Civ3 forums. ;) )

Edit: Oh, and it's in the "news" best interest to show the abnormal, e.g., "Saddam Who?" Makes it more "interesting" to watch. ;)

Edit2: One more thing, let's drop the education/intelligence discussion. The thread is *still* on French leader in Civ3.

sorry thought u'd packed up for the evening! lol! 10 PM where i am

@ Padma-

I never meant you didnt- the comment was more directed on those not privy to having the show aired in there country at all...

any way, my own 2 bits(yarrghhh, that be pirate jargon) on the subject of french leaders is this-

I dislike Joan of Arc as the french leaderhead, and I would full hearterdlly suppot either Lou, or Nappy as the replacement, if there was a civilization with a another female leaderhead to take her place, the only one which comes to mind would be Nubia, as it seems that country in its heyday had no problem accepting female rulers, even well into post Roman empire times, though I dont know much on any paticular leader, other them some queen named Candake, or somthing similer thought that taking out a few cohorts of Roman auxilla, even at great cost to her own troops was a thing to celibrate....

Maybe Firaxis and Atari should just put in a bunch of extra leaderheads that you can import with the editor, that way for the French, you would have Joan, but could put in Louis XIV, Napoleon, or someone else. I would like to play it where you could put in John F. Kennedy or Ronald Reagan or George Washington as presidents of the U.S., and maybe Peter IV or the III for Russia, and several others of other nations. That way the scenarios you make can be really historic (put Hitler in Germany for WWII scenario and Stalin in Russia WWII scenario, and George Washington in American Revolution scenario).

This way, everyone's happy!

Everyone except the poor leaderhead artist who has to finish all those leaderheads in time for release! ;)

More pay might help.;)

Actually, I agree with you. There would be too many leaderheads to make.
