Cheating on a test

I don't cheat on test partially because I typically know what i'm doing and those times when i don't I'd rather get a high F than a zero. Homework is a whole other thing though and in a lot of classes i've had(especially math) teachers encourage the students to work together and check answers. For spanish class i will go on the internet and find an online translator changes a few errors i know the thing made and then add in a few mistakes and no one is the wiser(except for the other students who do the exact same thing) This also applies when i copy off of other peoples homework.

In general no, but there are the occasional class test where essentially it was meaningless and people worked in groups where they could. There have probably been incidents where I've seen other people's answers in proper tests but its unavoidable when the tables are so close...

I hardly ever cheated when I was in school because most of the time it wasn't needed. At least on test that is. I hardly ever did my homework and would copy at least 75% of all the homework I was ever given.

Edit: When I did cheat on test I would just palm an answer key. They important thing is to use your writing hand. If you use your other hand it is too obvious. Just keep it in your writing hand and whenever you need to use it just make it look like you are thinking with your pentip lying on the paper. It takes a little pratice to make it look right, a little luck too.

I did steal the answer keys to test whenever the opportunity arrose so that I could make copies and sell them.

I have never cheated on an exam.

First because I have no reason to, and second is because it is just plain wrong. Studying has its uses you know. ;)

I don't see the problem with cheating on maths and physics by writing the equations somewhere.
I always considered totally stupid that we wouldn't have the formula sheet available.

The one time I cheated that I can remember was this year. It was out of spite. You see, I *really* hate it when gym teachers give actual, written tests... Well, guess what happened. Either because a few kids were poorly behaved, or because she just felt like it, (I can't remember which) my gym teacher recently gave us a written test on the course expectations. I was annoyed enough at this already, and refused to study. When the test came around, I knew that I did poorly on it. But what really did it was when she forced us to correct our own tests. Like she has *so* much else to do, being a gym teacher and all. She read back the answers to each problem, and we marked it right or wrong. By now really pissed, I changed a few answers to the correct response without her noticing, I think, and so probably got a D- instead of an F. But I could care less. I still got an A overall.

If the exam is large enough ie lots of examinees in say a major end of school certificate exam, one way is to get a genius who looks a bit like you and of roughly the same age to take your exam for you.

It was done once in Melbourne but the ploy was easily flagged because the results were too good for the true dumb candidate. So don't pick a genius, just someone a bit brighter.

Anyway, they've got around this with some sort of ID rule.

This thread isn't to encourage anyone to cheat on a test, and I would never ever support it :mischief:, but I'm curious how many people here have cheated on an exam. And what are the creative ways you have done so.
For me, I have converted all the math symbols and numbers into chinese characters and written all the equations into a string text. Then I use some cheat t-shirt creator and printed it on a white t-shirt. Teacher thought it was a poem.

Also I have gone to the exam hall an hour before the exam and written all the equations on the back of a chair lightly in pencil. Then I come to the test relatively early and sit in the chair behind the one with the equations.

I also know people who put equations inside the clear tube of a mechanical pencil.

You deserve to pass just for your initiative skills alone.:goodjob:

One that I did once in one of my classes where we were playing a trivia game, is I would stick one of my hands out of view of the other team, and my partner would glance down. If I held up one finger, the answer was A, two fingers the answer was B, and three fingers the ansewr was C.

And for multiple choice Scantron tests. I have developed two systems that could be used for cheating, altough I have never used them, and will never use them. The first one is have a person that can see you from where they are sitting. Then with your pencil, tap your desk 1 time for A, 2 times for B, three times for C, etc. with the end of your pencil.

The second one requires the person to be able to see your feet. Just move your feet around in an unsuspicious way so that it just looks like you are simply adjusting your sitting position. Then place one foot close to a leg to represent an answer. One leg is A, another is B, another is C, and another is D.

I cheated in Sunday school!! (church).

We had a little book that we were supposed to memorize psalms from (every single word!) and then say the psalm(s) to the teacher. When the teacher was out of the room I wedged the book between the braces of the table (where the 'leg' of the table connects to the rest of the table, underneath the surface) and the book was open to the page of the psalm(s) I had to read.

Whenever I started to forget the words I would cover my eyes (so she couldn't see where I was looking), making it look like I was concentrating. Then I would look down and see the next few lines and then say them.

I can't remember if I ever really cheated in tests for school. I would cheat on my homework, but not tests. Chemistry was cool, because the teacher allowed us to bring 1 'cheat sheet' where we could put anything we want on 1 piece of paper to use as notes for the test (Note: you quickly learn to write really, really small!).

I would have flunked chemistry if not for those notes and Health class was a real pain. Most of the other classes I got A's or B's in without studying at all and cheating on all my homework.

I have not cheated on a major test because you cannot. The test taking conditions are pretty strict. The person next to you always has a different test than you do.

And I wouldn't want to cheat from another person anyways because I don't know how reliable they are. ;)

I rarely cheat. Only when I need too.
Once I had a science teacher who was possibley one of the dumbest I have ever had. She would give us the essay qustions ahead of the test (about 3 days) to give us busy work in class. Once I wrote out the answer and walked into class with it prtending to do some last minet studing. When she stated the test I slid it into the desk I was sitting in. I finished the objective part of the test and when the essay qustions came I just took the paper I wrote out out of the desk and attached it. Got a 105 on that test (some of the essays were extra cradit.)

Another time was during a spanish test. Since the we only have spanish once a week for 30 minets my teacher rushes though the tests. She gave us little barriors so we would not sheat off of each other. Since I sat in the back of the room I was safe. I got out my 3x5 card of the vocabualery words and put it undernieth 2 pieces of paper. With just one if she came by she could see it under. I would slip out the second sheet of paper when she was not looking to see though the nearly transparent paper. Got a 95 on that test.

I dont cheat. However, I improvise. During science tests (multiple choice) for the greater part of the test I have no probs. I only do the questions I can do. If I have no idea (e.g molar concentrations etc.) I look at the squares I cloured in, and I make pretty pictures and patterns, eg. all diagonal;. It seemed to work!

In the local newspaper today, a handful of final year medicine students in an Indian city were caught having an advanced preview of the exam questions.

So that's another way if you're loaded with cash - bribe the education department.

Last year during an engineering midterm the teacher said it was going to be "open note, open book, open everything" so someone brought his roommate who was a graduate student in electrical engineering. (technically not cheating, but still clever)

I've never tried this before because I haven't work out all the details, but it would be cool to have a friend walk in as a test taker, take pictures of the exam questions on a camera phone and send it to you. You solve all the problems and walk into the exam two hours late and finish it early.

Maybe I should ask you to post clever ways someone would cheat if they have to.

I don't think I've ever cheated on a test or exam.

I have cheated on homework though...one time, myself and five friends decided to cheat on biology homework, so we all assigned ourselves one worksheet (there were seven of them, one person had two) and passed them around when done for the others to copy. It worked quite well; we even did it right under the substitute teacher's nose! As it turned out, another group of six people had exactly the same idea and formed their own cheating group, so almost half the class was cheating on the same assignment at the same time.

It was a lot of fun. ;)

One instance in high school was when I was unsure about one or two questions on the front of my test.

So I suddenly "remembered" to write my name on the test right next to the test stack. The smartest person had the test on top so I corrected my answers. Got a 90 instead of an 86.
