Chinese SG, world map CSP, OPEN GAME

I'll take it.

I need to review the thread to see what to do, and I may only be able to take a few turns, but at least it'll give Lee a break :)

EDIT: I'm on 1.21f...will that cause a problem?

All games are heading toward 1.21.
Go ahead!

Alright, I took a look at the game, and I'm curious if we're thinking Space Race here?

Domination/Conquest looks like it would take too long, Cultural we could never get both 100000 and have more than twice as much as America.

I'm thinking that we should make peace with everybody (except possibly Babylon, but I think they're in an MPP with Russia), realign our forces towards maximum defense (being ready to respond when the inevitable "we're attacking you for the hell of it" happens), and get Alpha Centauri.

Let me know if you think this is the path I should take. I plan on spending the rest of tonight just reviewing the game and then starting my turns tomorrow.

UN is out - way to many civs to suck up to.
I don't think Domination is possible on a hugh map.

Space race is the best bet. It would also speed up closing another hugh map game. I made good progress on the Japan one this weekend.

I total agree that cultural victory is pretty impossible unless we invade America.

In fact, if one were to look back, China was so behind in everythig when the SG was first revived. ;) Now China control a large part of Asia (Much more than the real China :D ) and I forsee a space victory as well cause Domination or Conquest on Marla's Map is almost close to impossible.

What is really nice -
some the games that have been going for a long time -
this one, plxi - are heading to a end :)

Ok, I've played three turns (you'll see why in a second):

Pre-turn:
Wanted to make peace. YEARNED to make peace. But everyone refused our envoys! So I decided to send a different type of envoy :ar15:

Turn 1: 1762 AD
Much movement of troops aimed at a Russian attack (targetting Smolensk and Yakutsk). Captured Nippur, which is resisting. But not for long... :borg:
MMOW
Little else to do but get my bearings. I've not prosecuted a war this late that required strategy (usually it's a modern tank annihilation)

Tween-Turn:
Japan and Russia form a military alliance against Greece. Japan declares war on Greece (this is nonsensical, since Japan is nowhere near Greece as far as I can tell)
India and Russia make a Trade Embargo against us! :finger: I'm thankful, though, that it's not a Military Alliance, as taking on both at the same time would be tough. (Or it would've been at this point...you'll see what I mean in a little bit)
Russians move a whole stack of Infantry around my positioned troops. Invasion force?

Turn 2: 1764
Lots of Tank building
India declares WAR!? :shottie: They're claiming as a result of MPP, but it was the Zulu who attacked me! Dammit, I didn't want to fight both India and Russia... :suicide:
However, because they declared war on my turn, I got some free workers out of it :)
Defeat a Baby longbowman and beat a Spear/Settler pair *snicker*...two more workers
Samarra (Babylonian) razed..sending Settler to build in same spot.
Riga (Russian) razed...didn't want to waste troops on such a small city on the Russian front
Smolensk captured! Pillaged a couple roads to separate Yakutsk and their eastern cities from their western cities.
The Yakutsk invasion was a failure however, as I lost a couple tanks.

Tween-Turn:
Infantry battles with Russia, mostly won by us.
India and the US form a military alliance against us! :rocket3: America declares war!
Indians move a whole mess of Infantry and Marines (Marines? In the Himalayas?) towards Nippur.

Turn 3: 1766
Send out the envoys and...the Russians respond! We make peace! *phew* Immediate movement of artilerry stack and armies to Indian front.
The Indian forces had manuevered towards Nippur...so I abandoned it! (useless position anyhow) Suckers...
City of New Chinan built on New Zealand(?)
New Isand... (Zulu) falls
New Delhi is conquered and razed (it's position is useless to us...we don't want to prosecute a war over mountains)
New Bombay is taken! Resistance...is futile :borg: but I send some infantry there anyway.
Fun with artillery and tanks. All those Indian infantry and marines? GONE. (well, except for one marine)...and as a result of our effort:
KUBLAI KHAN! [party]
City of New Kaifeng built where Samarra was

Ok, here's the deal:
We are at war with Zulu, Babylonians, India and America. We need to get the Zulu off of Australia, just to stop their annoying bomber runs. Unfortunately we don't have many troops on the island (maybe we should rush an airport?)
Babylonians can be conquered at will, they're really pathetic.
India, if we want to prosecute, will fall easily to us. I believe they moved all of their excess troops towards Nippur (there are some Indian troops on New Guinea (just landed, I couldn't engage)..the defenders should be able to hold). We may want to eliminate the mainland Indian cities.
America is across the ocean, but I expect to see a transport from them at some point. We may want to build a couple naval ships to guard our waters.
Kublai Khan is in Beijing; I didn't know what to do with him (build another army?) so I'm leaving it to the next player (and thus only taking 3 turns).

War-weariness has got to hit us soon. We're running a small deficit as a result of the Americans declaring war, so we may want to adjust our science, or perhaps get a couple cities building wealth.
Oh, our Cavalry army needs a breather (almost perished taking out the Indian forces)

If I did anything Weed, please let me know. This was my first SG post, so I'm hoping I didn't screw too much up.

Note that I am on 1.21f, so you'll probably need it too.

One last thing. Believe it or not, I believe we can win this via Domination. If we move a mess of settlers to the open area of South America, and conquer the Eastern Hemisphere by getting Modern Armor before anybody else....

Ack, one last last thing. The Russians have Ecology. We need to get that from them.

What I like about the AI's military alliance is : Talk peace with them! This will screw up their reputation big time and it will also possible to lead to a future war between them. ;)

And yes, we can expect America to land some unit somewhere NE, they use to do it with galley, warrior and spearman in the ancient days. Honestly I don't see the Indian Marines as a threat as I have kill quite a number on the desert and plain during my last 3 turns...hehe A defence of 6 against the attack of 16 of a tank is pretty hopeless if you ask me. :)

We might want to consider a short period of peace due to the mounting war weariness as we are wasting a lot on entertainment at the moment in Democracy. :p

Seeing how many turns I can complete tonight.

Preturn - Rush airport in Australia.
We have EXTREME culture flip risk city in Smolensk - drop it to 1 defender.
NONE of the powers we are at war with will talk to us.
Establish 3 missing embassies.
Give the Aztecs Aluminum to ally vs. America.
Give the Iroqoius several items to ally vs. America.
That should keep America away.
Nothing else of interesting on the trading screen.
Abadon Jaipur - worthless town.
???? The Zulu attack infantry with infantry and raze Papua??????
The Rng is cruel, infantry beats tanks, and we lose some workers.
Lots of WLTCD.

1768 AD - A stack of 7 infantry / marines crosses the border near New Anyang - and all die.
We barely formed a new army - We get another leader while chewing on that stack.
Sun Tzu forms and army and - Qianlong appears - LEADER Insanity!
Qianlong forms another empty army
We kill a bowman guarding a bab settler.
New Ningpol is formed.
Our tanks take Ashur - beating the lone SPEARMAN defender
Our tanks take Ur - killing a couple of rifleman.
Now this is a STACK of DOOM!

LAK-011.jpg

Russia / Greece Peace Treaty.
Russia / Babylon Trade Embargo vs. us ends.
Russia / India MPP - ARGGGGGGGGGGGGG!
Our people want to build the pentagon.
What a surprise - NOT - Smolensk flips back to Russia.
Double ARRRRRRRRRRRRRRRGGGGGGGGGG - I don't even get a chance to try for peace with Russia.

India declares war on Germany.

1770 AD - Zulu will talk, but want us to pay them for PEACE - Bite Me Shaka.
Is Babylon insane?
LAK-012.jpg

Of course, that town dies.
Leader madness continues, now we get Khan
We capture New Bapedi - catch several planes in the city.
Not enough - Shaka still expects us to pay him!

Babylon falls - we won't hold with with the India SoD there, but it still screws Babylon.
Of course, that SoD is a lot smaller know ;)

Hire a boatload of enterainers to avoid to many unhappy cities.

Russia / America ally vs. Aztecs.
Russia / America ally vs. Iroqoius.
Why not  Russia and Japan ally vs. us
England / Russia ally vs. Germany.
THIS IS DISUGTING - Rome / Russia ally vs. us.

The Zulu capture Ashur - WEEEEEEEEEEEEEeeeeeeeeeee

1772 AD - The Russian infantry stack is leaving - guess it didn't like the artillery pounding it

took ;)
Ashur is recovered.
New Intombe is captured.
New Paoting is formed - intenionally near Egypt - hoping to flip the city and control Australlia.
Bengal is captured - we add 2 artillery - it helps.
A single Cavalry takes Kagoshima - killing the lone spearman defender.
Ellipi is captured.
Sign Rop with Egypt - Reason access to the Zulu and to kill Babylon.
Attempt straight peace with Zulu - will it hold?

Summary - WHEN to goverments collapses - MONARCY. I don't know how much more War unhappy people we can take.

#1 goal - ELIMATE Babylon - I signed the RoP for that reason.

Warning - those people with heart coniditions, high blood pressue or other life threating illness should not play this game

http://www.civfanatics.net/uploads/CSG-1772AD.zip

This sounds crazy - but this game might end with a hugh map domination?????????

Dag, my bad on Smolensk...I thought it was far enough away from the core cities (must've been in standard map thinking mode)

I guess my inital assessment on the Indian might was off...I thought they had already used up their wad.

Lee said it but I want to emphasize: GO TO MONARCHY! DO NOT GO TO COMMUNISM!

Did everybody that signed an MPP declare war? Are we at war with Japan?

Yes - we are at war with Japan,
along with half of the world :crazyeye:

My current goal is to kill Babylon -
Take the middle east - raze Africa cities - to far away.

This will help with war weariness, and give us control of the middle east.

There is one BB and transport along the coast.
Keep building a navy - invade Japan at some point.
I did clean out Australia.

So watch out for those attacking Infantries as Infantry is marked as both Offensive and Defensive unit under version 1.21 (I have always have this setting in my personal mod so it is not a surprise for me. :D )

If someone plays a few turns in the next 12 hours -
I will take another round tomorrow morning.

I would if I could, but my computer was choking on the size of the game, and I don't think I'd be able to play a turn within 12 hours.

OK... There is no history of heart problems, high blood pressure or other fatal diseases in my family...

Since my main Civving box is an Athlon 1800XP with 512MB, I think I have a reasonable chance of making some headway here too :)

Wish me luck. Time to kill some Babylonians...

Inherited turn:
I spend a few minutes scanning the map. Geeze, how many civs are at war with us? I take a quick look. Rome, Babylon, America, Japan, Russia, England and India.
Entertainment tax at 30%. I have a feeling there's some war weariness going on, particularly with being at wr with 7 civs.
Babylon and Russia form a military alliance against the Aztecs. Babylon declares war. Stupid Babylonians.
Rome declares war on Germany.
Zululand and Japan sign a trade embargo against us. This game is NUTS!
Our fragile democracy holds. The only cities that go into disorder are former Babylonain and Japanese cities.

(1) 1774AD
I play a game of "Find the Forbidden Palace". It's in Kras. I need to know this so I know where to concentrate my micromanagement efforts.
Use some artillery for target practise against Indian infantry.
There are two armies outside Beijing waiting to be loaded. I load one elite and two veteran tanks into one.
We have a lot of tanks in the yellow and red. These are relocated to cities for repairs.
The Babylonian capital of Ninevah falls to our one tank. There was only one spearman defending it :smoke: One slave joins our railroading crew.
A Babylonian spearman and settler are defeated and two more slaves join us.
Drop science to 30%. 6 turns to computers, and we'll want cash to upgrade to mech infantry.
We seem awfully thin on troops. I have trouble scraping enough undamaged tanks to load the second empty army.
Half an hour of moving workers around, and trying to remember who we're at war with so I don't move workers too close to enemy troops.
I miss a couple of workers and they get captured by India.

(2) 1776AD
OK. India pissed me off, so I bombard Chittagong before sending in two tank armies to take care of the infantry there. An assortment of other troops die there, including a rifleman and a longbowman. We take the city with no losses. A settler there becomes two more slaves for us. Two more tanks go in and capture four more Indian workers that were lying around. I have more than made up for the workers lost on the last counter attack.
Tanks arrive adjacent to the next batch of Babylonian and Indian cities.
Killing off a Russian infantry stack near Sverdlovsk produces the first Great Leader of my turn - Jin Qiu. I immediately form another army as there's no wonder to be rushed.
The very next attack on the SAME infantry stack and I get - General Tso! Two Great Leaders, one straight after the other. I immediately form another army. Both armies are moved outside Kras to be filled with tanks.
The russian stack of about ten infantry is whittled down to two, both in the yellow. They retreat, and replacement infantry are brought in to replace them.
Some of our workers are recaptured by sneaky Indian infantry, but they leave themselves exposed.

(3) 1778AD
Those Ruskis never learn. A dozen artillery in Sverdlovsk pound the latest infantry stack into the yellow and red. More leader fodder for the elite tanks there.
Eridu is captured from the Babylonians by our first tank army.
Uruk is captured from the Babylonians by our second tank army. One more slave for us. Babylon has two cities left.
Recapture our four Indian slaves.
Pune is captured from India. We capture 9 (yep nine) artillery! Yay!
Very little in the way of counter attacks. The Russians get wise to the pummeling and go off in search of railroads to pillage.

(4) 1780AD
An ATTACKING battleship is sunk by an ironclad. This seems to happen with alarming frequency.
Send a cavalry to kill of a conscript infantry and we get - Kublai Khan! And another immediate army.
Another Indian mini Stack-o-doom eliminated. Lots of promotions to elite.
I love this. Russian infantry are dropping like flies. The flood of troops should abate soon.
The former Indian city of Indus is now Chinese and India is cut in half. I LOVE the blitz ability of armies.
Tanks and artillery move outside Dehli.
I am amazed that no more war weariness has cropped up.

CSG1003.jpg

(5) 1782AD
Would I like to hold elections for UN secretary general? Seeing as we're at war with half the world I decide against it.
Delhi is razed as there is probably too much culture there to allow me to keep it. In the midst of the fighting, Sun Tzu makes his appearance. We get a nice bounty from the razing, seven Indian slaves and four artillery.
Kish is captured from Babylon. They didn't even bother defending it.
Rome has sent ONE veteran knight into our territory.
A nasty Indian infantry stack is whittled down to two units in the yellow, at the cost of one tank and several retreats.
Greece and Russia sign a trade embargo against us.
Russia requests a mutual protection pact. Instead I offer him an alliance against Russia and he accepts without any gold changing hands.
We learn the secrets of computers. I queue up Ecology and Synthetic fibers.

CSG1004.jpg

(6) 1784AD
Just one more turn as they say.
Lagash is taken from the Babylonians.
There is one more city. I use our ROP with Egypt to get to Sippar and kill the lone rifleman there with a tank. I raze it to avoid a culture flip.
Babylon is STILL not dead. I find two more cities at the North West of Egypt. The single spearman in Izibia is defeated and the city is razed. Zarquim and Thessalonica are more difficult to get at, but I believe those are the last two.
Sverdlovsk gets renamed to Leader City as I get my THIRD Great Leader - Qianlong from the pack of elite tanks and the SAME Russian stack that continually receives reinforcements. Kras has no shields towards it's tank, so it's switched to the SETI project and rushed with the leader.

CSG1005.jpg

Notes:
Babylon has been reduced to two population 1 cities.
India should in my opinion be the next to go.
Russia should also be high on the list (probably after India has been kicked back to the Stone age). We have a Military Alliance with Germany against Russia, with about 18 turns left to run. Keep those elite tanks and artillery in Leader City. There has been a steady diarrhea of infantry coming there from Russia and that thing has been churning out leaders like nothing I've ever seen before.
FIVE leaders on my turn, including two on consecutive attacks.
Use excess cash to upgrade infantry to mech infantry in strategic places

Here's the save:

File: CSG - 1784AD

This is why I got the RoP - Killing those last 2 bab cities will help War wearniess.

My next target - Indian mainland - It will be time to start building some ships and start Island hoping - begining with Japan homeland. :flamedevi:

I am playing again :crazyeye:
This is to insane to NOT play another round

I know people get tired of hearing this -
but DON'T do goto orders that will go to the next persons turn.
I now have 11 artillery defend by a couple of cavalry - only units that could reach - as I pulled back one square from Bombay, and the guns moved forward.
