My proposals for the Spanish civilization :) :

Special Unit: The “tercio” was the European army of the Spanish during the 16th and 17th centuries and was formed by musketeers and pikemen. Thanks to them, the Spanish ruled in Europe, conquered Italian territories, and defeated the French in battles. :D You can see the “tercio” in the Velázquez’s picture “The Surrender of Brede”, that is in Wikipedia: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/The_Surrender_of_Breda . Besides, the “conquistadores” weren’t armies, weren’t paid by the Spanish King, and aren’t useful in the game, compared with others special units.

Leader: Please, I want no more Isabel (or Isabella, that is Elisabeth in Italian, not in Spanish) because she was just Queen of Castilla and shared the power with his husband, Fernando (or Ferdinand), in this Kingdom while he ruled alone in the Crown of Aragón. :king:

Flag: The castle represents Castilla and no more territories of Spain. The present flag would be better, but the best one would be the Cross of Burgundy flag, used by the “tercios” across Europe. This flag is like the Scottish flag but with different colors: yellow instead of blue, and red instead of white. You can see it in Wikipedia: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Cross_of_Burgundy_Flag .

Great people: In general, great people of all the civilizations is necessary because the most of them are British or Americans of the US. Spanish great people are Cervantes, Velázquez, Goya, Quevedo, Picasso, García Lorca, Dalí, and Miró as artists; “El Cid”, Al-Mansur, Cortés, González de Córdoba, and Duque de Alba as generals; Domingo de Guzmán, and Ignacio de Loyola as priests; Isidoro de Sevilla as scientific; and Juan Pujol “Garbo” as spy.

Music: I prefer a different music because I don’t identify with “flamenco” music, that is exclusively from the Southern Spain and whose origin is Romani. :crazyeye: Besides, this music is popular and doesn’t fit with Kings, so the music of Antonio de Cabezón (composer of Charles I) and Boccherini (composer of Charles III whose La musica notturna delle strade di Madrid No. 6 Op. 30 sounds in the film Master & Commander) fits better.

Voices: I notice the Hispano-American accent of the units. Please, use a Spaniard, mainly in the new voice of the Spanish leader(s).

I hate flamenco and I am sure that the most of the Spanish doesn't like this boring music. Spain is more than flamenco, bullfighting and paella. :aargh:

Isabel, while on paper was sharing the throne with ferdy, was actually the real ruler. If ferdy argued with her, izzy got her way. which is probably why she was included in civ4 and not ferdinand.

I prefer Spanish leaders who ruled in all Spain, because Isabel was only the wife of the king in Aragón. I like more Fhilip II :king: , Charles III (King of the Enlightment and ally of G. Washington in the War of US Independence), or even Goth kings as Leovigild and Reccared (Reccaredus? I don't know the English translation).

That's true, but izzy is by far the most famous of all spanish rulers in the us.

These issues are always fairly subjective. I don't feel terribly strongly about it and hope you get what you want. I won't be that angry if you don't, but that is no reason not to hope for you :)

Hence why I also suggested Charles V & I or General Franco.

This is without a doubt the biggest reason izzy was included in Civ4. Just be glad Civ4 didn't have Columbus as a leader (He is probably the most well known spaniard-who-wasn't-actually-a-spaniard in the states.)

Please, Franco :nuke: was the worst Spanish leader and made Spain a country with no international presence and influence, besides he killed a lot of people and eliminated the democracy in Spain for decades.

Franco was a nice guy, but what we want is a leader for the Spaniards during the Colonization Age, when they were world powers. After they lost their colonies, spain became technologically backward and weak.

Phillip II then, even if his notable achievements in British history were only marrying Mary I and building the Spanish Armada.

yeah, Phillip II would be good. In addition to Izzy, because we know she will be included.

Franco? Nice guy? You claim to be a Jew, and you say that a Fascist murdering dictator who sided with the Axis powers and used his country as training grounds for the Luftwaffe in 'nice'?

I mean as a ruler, not as a person. Besides, correct me if i'm wrong, didn't he overturn the expulsion of jews from spain? And I am a jew, I live in spring valley, (in rockland county) attend orthodox synagogue daily, keep all of the commandments, and attend classes on the torah nightly. And yes, I normally play on the noble difficulty. And I am male.

But he wsn't a good ruler either. he kept the country enslaved under a strict anachronistic regime ('patria, religión y familia' = 'homeland, religion, family') with no divorce, persecution of homosexuals and racial minorities...

For the Chinese, if you must have that god@#$% awful Mao (well, he had his good points too, but being an anti-communist I tend to have strong feelings about him :mischief:), then please include an Imperial Chinese leader! Anybody, Qin Shi Huang, Taizong, Kangxi, Qianlong, Wudi, Taizu, Yongle - any of them, because I don't want Mao leading the Chinese again just because he's the most easily recognized Chinese leader.

I'd also like to keep their UU as the Cho-ko-nu. They were fun. :goodjob:

I'd also like a non-female leader for Egypt, if they already are including Cleopatra or Hatshepsut. There are so many reasonably well-known Egyptian pharaohs, from Ramses II to Thutmose III, that deserve at the very least a spot. Just because they can't wear some skimpy pseudo-Egyptian dress doesn't mean they shouldn't be in.

Yeah, take mao out. And why not put in Tutankhamen, the short one for the egyptians. he's very famous.
