Choosing a Paradox Game

Ten bucks says they will announce Crusaders Kings 2 soon. :p

I'd get EU3 Complete (if it comes with HTTT).

Failing that, I'd wait for Victoria 2.

HOI3 doesn't appeal to me, I'd rather play IN wwII like in Cod. :)

Oh and avoid EU3, it is slow and ugly. I still play EU2.
EU3 is more sandbox. Eu2 has historical events and causes you to focus on the actual history.
EU3 I have never played more then 10 years... i only played with the popular Magni Mundi mod but it was 10 years pingponging rebels back and forth across Ottoman Empire...

Ping-ponging is gone with HttT, the game also look much better now. I prefer the sandbox play instead of being restricted but that was why they made the Magna Mundi mod, for those who want to still keep as much historical realism as possible. EUIII runs perfectly fine for me, a bit slow starting the game but that is it.

I like sandbox to some extent, but vanilla EU3 (and HoI3 for that matter) is just silly. I don't want things to rigidly follow history, but I want them to be plausible. I find MM is actually good balance - you don't have to stick to what actually happened, but you don't get silly things like Mantua owning half of Europe within 100 years. It's also much more for me to play, as it's actually a challenge, unlike vanilla.

Things like AGC-EEP or VIP go way too far in the historical direction for my tastes.

Maybe, what is wrong? I haven't had a problem yet, and I highly doubt it will need 5 patches. Although I haven't rigorously tested all the features.

I am having so much fun with HttT.. patched it all the way from vanilla to HT and it's practically a new game.

:D

I'm gonna wait for some patches before getting HttT, i'm a huge fan of Paradox games but i'm getting pretty sick of their policy of releasing buggy products.

That is mostly the initial release of the game, the expansions generally don't need a lot of patching. One or two patches is acceptable and perfectly normal, not everything can be caught in the studio especially by a small team. There are not any major bugs in HttT, possibly a few small ones I saw reports of on the paradox forum, but none I have noticed in game.

Look at Gamespot player reviews to see what frustration EU3 could bring you. Its a crappy game! :o
It is so slowwwwww no game should have a speed so slow.

...

No.

You get to notice the HUGE problems it has when you mod it.

Still doesn't tell us what the problem is.

BS. You either don't know how to turn up the speed ingame or your PC sucks.

How significant an improvement is httt over in nomine? I bought it on a whim from the steam sale, but I have a horrible suspicion that ive been too spoiled by magna mundi and am going to have trouble going back to vanilla-ish.
About as significant as IN is over vanilla, I'd say. I only played the demo though. Gonna wait until they port MM to this. ;)
