ChristosIOT I

Check Sons of Mars 3 how I deal with rebellions (hint, it also involved nukes).

Chrisy will be the GM. I guess your nukes got sabatouged or there is a time limit to stop you using your nukes (although for this to work the time will have to be set in weeks than years perhapes if there is a problem for the nukes but o well...)

Besides some balance issues with the lower-tier units, I actually thought Christos wrote a decent ruleset.

He did. Just there was some... flaws ("cough" sheilds for drones only "cough")

So when you get destroyed by a mechanic you neglected to care for, you're annoyed?

Neglect? I did consider but in the end I though we were all in together against the drones.

O well... ChristosIOT II has revenge chance...

No. Players who ask smart questions, and players who ally with players who ask smart questions, should have the advantage in knowledge. That is why IOT chat players are typically better than ones who aren't on the chat, unless that player is named Krz or Bsmith because I love their orders in every possible way and they don't even need to ask questions 99% of the time.

What ranking is this?

FAQs should be open for us that are not in chat or not have the time for chat. It depends but basically: things need to be open.

Anyway: I like the idea of ChristosIOT II setting as a sequel: it gives a new meaning when rebels, drones and the remains of the Dominion/Kaz rise up in a fashion of note. It could be fun. It might even take notes of Sone's Command and Conquer IOTs in terms of units.

...or for people who bother to post in the SG questions, or PM the GM questions, or post in the thread questions.

As for rising up, doubtful. So many Dominion/Kaz citizens will die before this is over that the recolonization efforts will mean that the majority of people living in the recolonized scrubbed zones will probably be of NATO-aligned nation descent. It'll basically be a repeating case of rebels rising up, then being stomped into the dirt.

Forever.

OOC: Having read everything, I am not going to spend the next hour quoting everyone and responding to every little bit. But:

IC: Sonereal pretty much hit the nail on the head at some point. We nuke just the Dominion, and we risk getting Kazakhstan nuking us back. We nuke just Kazakhstan, and the Dominion would 100% of carpet nuked us back. The Dominion took provinces from Spain last turn...surely that classifies as an act of war? That and they refused to listen regarding america...constantly.

OOC: Nukes were probably overpowered. christos did improve the ruleset through the game, and shouldn't have it slated because you only noticed this after you got hit by it. If there were 'mass improvements' needed, why didn't you point them out before this happened?

I highly doubt any of my people would complain at our actions, sure they would be shocked, but can always 'help' the media report the events 'correctly', to say that if there was a stability mechanic it would destroy us doesn't really do anything. If the mechanic was there, we would of considered it and maybe changed orders. If everything was different, our actions would be different. As it was, we took the situation, rules, threats, everything, and decided to nuke people. Change 1 little thing, and to assume we would make the same decision is wrong. We might of done, but its irrelevant.

In unrelative news I might consider setting a allaince with AA in ChristosIOT II... if we are both in it that is...

Metagaming before the game begins. Did we nuke our allies? No. If you had an alliance with us, would we have nuked you? No. To carry a grudge over to a different game is unsporting.

Also; to be included in a FAQ, it would be highly beneficial for those questions to be asked more than once. That you didn't consider it a possibility of happening doesn't mean that christos should enlighten you to that we are discussing it. Hinting at the fact that someone is discussing mass nukes in thread (like he would of had to do to put that answer in thread) is providing an unfair advantage to our enemies by forewarning them. Was there a better way? Maybe. Since you are complaining about it, what would be your way of doing it while keeping complete privacy of the conversation going on in private?

To be honest, I wouldn't have mentioned it in the first place.

It is no different from a rational state actor destroying Hiroshima or bombing Dresden, now it it? I don't care much about your civilians, because I don't answer to them in elections. Thankfully, I don't have to answer to them ever again.

If the Dominion wishes to collapse or surrender, do so. Don't think the NATO Powers will collapse because of it. We will continue the war against the Dominion if they do not surrender immediately, and then we will deal with the droids on our own terms. After which, we will rebuild metropolitan areas and recolonize the bombed areas with government-funded settlers.

The difference between WWII and this is because Hiroshima and Nagasaki were two cities, and they ended the war.

Asia is an entire continent, and it didn't end the war. christos, if you let Sone build nuke shields, I will call shenanigans so hard.

A stability mechanic would've changed nothing on my end, since smacking down rebels is a lot easier than dealing with foreign armies. As far as anyone else was concerned, Kaz was a massive "neutral" monster and the Dominion have constantly been belligerent to the entirety of NATO for years.

We even discussed the plans with our NPC allies and changed orders to satisfy the needs of our allies when they came out.

This. This is why I don't even run a FAQ. In the games I GM, players ask me questions that, even if I posted without their names, would very much giveaway intentions and send up red flags.

Was there a better way? Maybe. Since you are complaining about it, what would be your way of doing it while keeping complete privacy of the conversation going on in private?

There really isn't a better way of doing other than tough learning. Learning that something is very possible when you're hit by it, or when you see someone hit by it, is a better way to learn than being told in a FAQ. It rewards genre-savvy players greatly.

I'm pretty sure we ended this war. Why shouldn't we be allowed to build shields? If we can't build shields, you shouldn't be allowed to build nukes.

If you can build shields this turn, then why couldn't I have built them last turn? If given the option, I would have shielded my inland crap. That's caution.

You blowing up the biggest continent on earth isn't caution. It isn't even paranoia. It's literally the most insane action in any IOT ever taken. Hell, you nuked Robert, and he wasn't even doing anything.

Hell, you nuked Robert, and he wasn't even doing anything.

Did we? That would be from the fallout of it (not directly targeting him), I believe only the Dominion and Kazakhstan should of been directly nuked (speaking for our nukes anyway).

Unintentional side effect (we might of nuked him next turn though, depending on his reaction).

OOC:

First, ChristosIOT II will not be sequel but prequel. And this time, war between Droids will not be allowed, you will have to work together and you will have a number of Turns to take over a number of provinces.

Second, my second project will not be ChristosIOT II, but my Napoleonic IOT. You will all be in the same team, you will have to create strategies in battle maps, use the terrain, build forts (there will be special unit that can build forts and you will have to send troops to defend them from the enemy), gain traits and try to conquer Europe.

Third, I will first finish this. I want to make ChristosIOT one of the few (if not the only) IOT's that ended with a clear winner. And at the same time gain for ChristosIOT the record of being the third longest lasting (in terms of turns) IOT.

Fourth, you will both be able to create shields, and in fact, Kazakhstan has the advantange, since they will have more income than USA and they will be able to both build more Nukes and Shields.

Fifth, when I created the Nukes:

1) If you had 50 IC, you were very, very, very, very rich.

2) It was mainly to help the players defeat the Ottomans. Imagine what would have happend in turn 11 had Kazakhstan not nuked the Ottoman Army.

Sixth, please stop OOC talk and focus on the game. Ail and AA, you still have a very, very good chance of winning or at least destroying much of NATO. So, build nukes and take revenge.

Look, guys, normally I'm the one of the last people to care about IC consequences.

But normally people don't carpet nuke Asia because it was the best strategical option.

Well, you (AA) have the power to nukes the Americas. So do it and take revenge.

That's entirely missing the point. The largest and most populated continent, save a few ports and Japan, is a smoldering nuclear wasteland, just because it was the most economical option. That's insane in every sense. In character, Sone is a raving madman. Out of character, Sone is a raving madman.

In either case, unless 60% of your economic output was magically inside Greenland/Iceland, I'm not too worried about winning next year. Then again, I'm not too worried either way.

Realistically, having destroyed 97.5% of your territory, I would imagine about 97.5% of your economy is now floating around the earth as radioactive fallout, but I won't pretend I understand how damage calculations are performed.

There is no damage calculation. All factories/farms move to Greenland. He only lost 2 IC income for every province that was nuked.

EDIT: You should have asked this earlier.

See, I don't even know what you guys are complaining about. It isn't like we actually hurt any of you. You guys are complaining about the most worthless nuclear weapons in IOT history.

You. Carpet nuked. Asia.

How does this not matter?

That's like, only 80 IC. That's a love tap. Isn't like you were actually hurt by the whole thing. Hell, the ruleset is now actually encouraging me to finish you two off instead of even offering surrender since nuclear weapons only are useful if you absolutely destroy your enemy. So, thankfully, I don't need to go through the fun process of writing a treaty.

I know it's chump change. The money isn't important. You carpet nuked an entire continent. Stop pretending to be Stalin.

And yes I am half in-character, thank you, everyone, for never noticing, even though I've said time and time again that I pretty much always play like that.

Carpet nuking an entire continent isn't a big deal. Look! None of your farms are destroyed, or your factories. If anything, you're Stalin for moving your entire agricultural and industrial base two oceans to Greenland.

OOC: AA, the explosion has happend. Saying why it happend will not help bring back Asia. Nuking you enemy and trying to survive, will revive your empire after three turns.
