No, it's not strange at all. Chieftess is a big proponent of the chats and she will always get the chat crowd to vote for her, be it for president, *not guilty* or an honor. Since many of those who cannot be at the chats (understandably) lose interest in these demogames they don't stay around long enough to vote in polls such as these.

Can't believe I missed this one, because that's what happened in my case. And it's a bit convenient that this vote was held with Cyc on vacation.....

The only thing this honor proves is that Japanatica has a short memory. And that the cult of personality can successfully hoodwink the uninformed, or the outright blind. And then I turn off my computer and find that there is no solace in real world politics, where loudmouth TV shills can bully their way into your living room with identically scripted messages meant to exonerate the jingoistic and corrupt.

My thanks to Rik for so eloquently opening the "ceremony" here. Our honoree sure does love the spotlight, and did plenty of kicking and screaming to gain some control over this forum (no dragging required). And reasoned debate has decreased in value here ever since.

You have no one but yourself to blame.

I hereby declare that I am not in favor of these mid-game "citizen honors". It doesn't make any sense to give someone an award in the middle of the game, when we have no idea how they will act for the rest of it. Honors should be awarded at the end of the game, as a reward for long-term excellence and dedication; not for short term involvement.

(note: this isn't in any way a sleight against CT, I'm merely stating my opinion on "citizen honors" in general)
I am with you on this one Ash. You should only get an honour after the fact. We should delay honours

not really strider, I can see it from donsigs and DZs point of view, they are busy at work and have no time to go to the chats, if you dont go to the chat you really have no clue whatsoever whats going on

I haven't been able to make a chat yet (except for maybe about 10 minutes at the most), but I know exactly what's going on.

The use that "excuse" to gain more power. It's just a tatic, so stop trying to act like everything they do is cute and innocent.

and I bet you have more time than them to look through lots of topics to find out whats going on....
you talk about trying to get people to join/stay with the demogame, well having better summaries, summaries from each department(as science the most I can really do is post the current tech tree) would make it easier

Actually, no, I normally only look at things that interest me (Science and Wonder Building mainly, leave military threads alone mostly), and the last time I looked at the save was only to get a screenshot for my RPG story, otherwise I wouldn't have even bothered looking.

I seem to have no problem understanding what's going on, heck, back in DG1 I ran the Science Department without Civ3! It's not that hard to understand, you click on a thread and you normally get a short summary of whats going on (that effects the discussion).

I have to agree with Strider here. I rarely attend any TCs and when I do I usually just doze off. You don't need to go to the chats to understand whats going on. It takes me just 15-30 min a day to go through the threads to find out whats happening.
