As a Floridian, I am a tiny bit annoyed that someone thinks that "Tampa Bay" is a city. I'll just have to remember to correct that each time I found my 32nd city as the US.

I view it as making Kiev a Russian city (which they didn't do, but I wouldn't be opposed to). Essentially, it represents the height of the Russian Empire, which included the Ukraine. Likewise, Denmark represents all the times they controlled Norway as well. In fact, one of their UUs is Norwegian.
If that doesn't work, it's like including Van in the Persian list, Asshur and Ninevah in the Babylon list, or Palmyra and Londinium in the Rome list.

Except the fact that most (almost all) of the cities never were Danish, but Norwegian cities during the union between Denmark and Norway from 1536 to 1814. It's more like including Cardiff, Edinburgh and Belfast on the English city list, as a result of the United Kingdom.

Denmark in Civ5 includes Denmark-Norway. I already pointed that out, it's why they have Norwegian Ski Infantry.

I know, and if Norway was part of Denmark during this period, it would make sense, but it was not. It was a union between the two countries, so my analogy to the union between England & co fits perfect.

Well, the list has a few cities which are neither Danish nor Norweigan today (Reykjavik, Schleswig and... Faeroerne, jeez), so it seems clear to me that this civilization encompasses the kingdom of Denmark-Norway at its height. A more accurate analogy would be a UK civilization named England, but with a Scottish UU.
I'm more upset (to be fair, I am a Faroese Dane) that they'd put the Faeroe Islands as a city, instead of just putting Thorshavn.

"It" probably being no more than Viken, i.e. the land on both sides of the Oslo Fjord. There is no way he controlled the entire country from Lindesnes (extreme south) to Nordkapp (Cape North), no matter what he wrote on that rune stone of his.

It still seems stupid and not accurate. Norway has never been Denmark proper, and the name 'Denmark' makes it seem like the civilization should be Danish, and not Norwegian. I think adding the Norwegian Ski Infantry was dumb as well. Korea has been in the Japanese and Chinese empires lots of times, but Korean has always been different than Chinese and Japanese, so having Seoul as a Japanese or Chinese city is like having Kaupang or Oslo as a Danish city, because Norway has never been in Denmark, never, just in the Danish Empire. It seems a bit offensive, saying 'you're culture is just a part of an entirely different culture as a subset', and ignoring all the differences.

Or you could say that Norway would never get an own civilization and be content with the Unique Unit you get! Like the Swiss Mercenary for the Dutch in Civ3. It's Civilization, not Life. The aim is fun and ski infantry seems to be fun... ;-) And it seems Scandinavia will get the better term this way with possible two civs instead of one, as they should not be named Viking I and Viking II, some dividing up seems logical ;-)

i think it's weird how people get offended every single time that something like this happens in a civilization game. i'm not trying to belittle anyone or anything, it's just that this has happened tons of times in the series and even in this game alone.

They did a terrible job on the chinese city list ! So far there is 1 defunct province, 4 actual province where there already listed a city from these regions, 4 city-prefecture in Guangdong (none of which anybody has heard of) and, yet, they managed to "forget" Wuhan, Qingdao, Datong, Anyang, .... etc .... Is this serious, Firaxis ?
